Leewood is the ideal holiday home for family or friends getting together. It is a spacious 4 bedroom detached house that sleeps 8 and has great self-catering facilities. It is only a 20 minute drive from the historic naval city of Plymouth. It is close to the M5, A38 and A379 making it great for visiting all that the local area has to offer. It has a large garden with mature trees and shrubs, level lawn, bbq and backs onto Hollacombe Woods - ideal for birdwatching. Wembury Beach is a 5 minute drive away, with a National Trust cafe & shop, Marine Centre, toilets and organised rock pool rambles. Wembury is on the SW Coast Path and is part of the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty known as the South Hams.
It is a short drive into Plymouth city centre accessing the Barbican, Plymouth Hoe, Drake Circus shopping mall, the National Marine Aquarium and the Theatre Royal. From the A38, you can travel onto Dartmoor or cross the Tamar Bridge into Cornwall. There are many beautiful National Trust sites nearby to visit, a favourite being Saltram House and Estate. Make sure to have a cream tea in their Chapel tea room or the Cafe next to the duck pond.
The nearest pub is The Odd Wheel, which serves great food, local ales and is good value too. There is a Spar and Post Office in Wembury and a Co-Op and Petrol Station at Staddiscombe. The nearest supermarket is Morrisons at Plymstock and there are a range of shops and banks at Plymstock Broadway. Wembury has its own 15thc Church of St Werburghs on the hillside overlooking the beach and mewstone. The nearest Hotels are Langdon Court and Kitley House Hotel. Riverford Farm Shop has local organic produce and “pick your own”.
The Barbican Leisure Park has a Cinema, Bowling Alley, Arcades and plenty of restaurants to cater for all tastes. Dartmoor Zoological Park is at Sparkwell and Paignton Zoo is definitely worth a visit too. There is a steam train ride from Buckfastleigh to Totnes and regular boat & fishing trips leave from the Barbican. The towns to visit are Totnes, Dartmouth, Salcome, Exeter, Truro, Tavistock and the Cornish fishing villages of Looe, Polperro and Fowey. There is so much to see and do - you will need to come back!
The accommodation consists of 3 kingsize bedrooms, one with en-suite shower. The fourth bedroom is a twin room. The lounge has a balcony overlooking the garden. Downstairs has a large kitchen/diner with doors that open out onto the lawn. There is a utility/boot room with washing machine. All bedding is 100% cotton and towels are provided. Leewood has Sky TV, WiFi access, off-street parking, a Welcome Basket and a Visitor's Guide.
