Flavour Fest 2014 Sponsored by Boringdon Hall
Smell the most delicious aromas in Plymouth City Centre as Flavour Fest, the South West’s largest free food and drink festival sponsored by Boringdon Hall Hotel, opens on Friday 15 August.
From 9.30am visitors can roam the stands of approximately 120 regional food producers which will stretch through the heart of Plymouth’s city centre from the Kitchen Theatre on the Piazza, to Place de Brest and choose from a wide range of nibbles, drinks or meals.
From African Caribbean to Thai, from noodles to Cornish curry’s, from lemonade to liqueurs there will be something for everyone.

Cookery demonstrations will be held by local and celebrity chefs including Chris and James Tanner from Tanners and Barbican Kitchen, Mitch Tonks from Rockfish Seafood, Ben Squire from the Boathouse Café and Joe Draper and Andy Richardson from the River Cottage Canteen and Deli.
The Tanner brothers will open the kitchen theatre under the big screen on the Piazza at 10am and several shows will take place up until 5pm. The kitchen theatre will run from 9.30am to 5pm on Saturday 16 and 10am to 4pm on Sunday 17 August.
Dez Turland from Brend Hotels and Richard Hunt from the Devon Scone Company will be joined by a surprise guest for the annual Ready, Steady, Cook showdown with BBC Radio Devon and presented by BBC presenter Natalie Cornah.

Food is Fun sponsored by Langage Farm
Children of all ages can get hands on with food as local chefs show them that ‘Food is Fun’.
Bread, scones, fish fingers, sushi and pasta are just some of the dishes that chefs will help children make and transform into meals during the festival.
Encouraging people to explore food in a fun and interactive way, and to promote healthy eating, the ‘Food is Fun Pavilion’, sponsored by Langage Farm, is fun for the whole family. Children can get stuck in with making and baking while parents can gain ideas for cooking at home.
The Pavilion will also have several activity tables where children can play with making spaghetti towers, guess ‘what’s in the bag’ or take part in the Flavour Fest quiz.
‘Food is Fun’ is also a learning destination of the children’s university and stamps can be collected for those that bring along their passport.

For those parents and adults that like to experience a real festival feel, the real ale and wine area, sponsored by Exeter Brewery which will also serve the Westcountry’s best made ciders, will have a seating area so you can take in the smells of the nearby stalls or enjoy the entertainment.
This will be situated at the far end of the Armada Gardens. With lots to see, do and taste – this really is going to be a Flavour Fest!
Exeter Brewery is a privately owned company based near St David’s Railway Station, being the first brewery to be based in Exeter for almost 50 years.
They develop and promote real Westcountry products, including award winning real ales and their biggest selling brand Avocet – Devon’s Original Organic real ale.
Avocet is supplied in bottles to France and is transported by traditional a square rigged sailing ship, the Tres Hombres, which has loaded and set sail from Plymouth on several occasions.
Offering a wide range of pale and dark ales, including the hoppy golden ‘fraidNot, copper coloured best bitter Ferryman and full-stout Darkness, this brewery has grown rapidly in the last 7 years.
They have won many awards including Taste of the West and Camra.
As sponsors they will be offering a full range of six ales in the Real Ale and Wine marquee, along with a full-bar serving Ciders, Wines, Spirits, Lager and soft drinks.
