Disabled access in Plymouth

Plymouth shopmobility provides manual, powered wheelchairs and scooters to help people with limited mobility to shop and use city centre facilities.

The service is free but a returnable deposit of £2.50 is requested.


Parking

Parking is available for the disabled in disabled only spaces and other Plymouth City Council parking bays if free PROVIDED that your badge and time disc are correctly diplayed.  The following car parks are restricted to a maximum 3 hour stay: Colin Campbell Court, Guildhall, Courtney Street, Cornwall Street and Mayflower Street East.                                         

On-street parking meters - Display badge and time disc and take note of any restrictions on ticket machines.


Local buses

Citybus route 25 serves the Barbican and Hoe from the City Centre every 20 minutes and offers low level access.

Park and Ride from Milehouse, Coypool and George junction are also accessible.

RADAR keys are available from the Tourist Information Centre and Civic Centre. Disabled toilets are located at :

The Barbican (next to the Glassworks) Elphinstone car park, The Hoe Promenade, Bretonside Bus Station, Armada Way ( next to the Sundial) and Drake Circus shopping centre.

Swimming pools
                         

All Plymouth's public pools have accessible changing facilities and equipment to help people in and out of the water. Assistance is always available but for those who would prefer to use them, each pool has its own shallow entry steps which are either permanently fitted or are available on request.

Plymouth Pavilions

Has full facilities for patrons with disabilities in the auditorium, pool and the ice rink has sledges to get mobile on the ice.

Induction Loop system, wheelchair space in auditorium with lift access to all floors. Access to the theatre building is via steps or a cobbled street.

Vue Cinema

Full access throughout the cinema. Infrared system in all auditoriums.
