About us

Cycle through rolling parkland and along the Plym estuary, passing ancient oaks as you go. Try the pump track – designed for all ages to build confidence and learn new skills on two wheels. You can explore this traffic-free, multi-use trail on its own, or challenge yourself to a longer route up to Plymbridge Woods.

Step 1: Start in the car park beside the welcome map. Here you will find toilets and a café nearby. Cycle downhill on the tarmac driveway.

Step 2: At the gate, continue on the drive. At this point you will see a pond, a large tulip tree and up on your right, Saltram House.

Step 3: As the track levels you can take one of two options. Either take the right-hand track through the woods and follow this down towards Saltram Beach, following the blue waymarkers. Or 10m further turn left at the fingerpost for the family pump track and The Stack play area.

Step 4: If you are at the pump track or play area go back to the finger post, turn left onto the the tarmac drive, then take the next left into the woods following the blue way-markers. Look ahead through the trees and you will see the estuary beach.

Step 5: On leaving the beach, follow the track up a short climb (keeping the river and estuary on your left) and follow the track (part of National Cycle Network 27). There is a small play area on your right called The 29th.

Step 6: Continue along the riverside path with the river on your left enjoying the views over into Plymouth until you come to an open grassy area with the Amphitheatre on your right. This is a great spot for a picnic.

Step 7: Keep following the track alongside the Plym, passing a bird hide overlooking the saltmarsh, until you reach a fork in the trail and a large grassy area. Up to your left is the Lookout play area.

Step 8: Taking the right fork returns you back to the main house, café, toilets and car park. It's steep, but the rewards are just up the hill at the end.
