Arts Council Confirms Funding
The good news keeps on coming for the Plymouth History Centre. Arts Council England has given the green light to our full funding request of £4,175,000, paving the way for building and construction work to begin and the development of some exciting community engagement projects, exhibitions and artistic commissions. Museum on Tour
Staff from the City Museum and Art Gallery are busy ‘popping up’ in a range of venues now the building is closed. Selected items from the collections are also out ‘on tour’ and can currently be seen on display at Penlee House Gallery, Penzance; Wheal Martyn China Clay Heritage Centre, St Austell and Ford Park Cemetery, Plymouth. Museum Decant
The decant of the Museum and Art Gallery is moving with pace now and is nearly at the half way mark. Thousands of objects have already been packed, documented and moved to secure offsite storage. History Centre Videos
The History Centre team are releasing a new video about the History Centre each month to give you a glimpse behind the scenes, keep you up to date with developments and introduce you to some of the people who are involved with the project. Peninsula Arts & SWFTA
‘Searching for Genius’, the current History Centre partnership exhibition between Peninsula Arts and Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery, continues at the Peninsula Arts Gallery until 19 November. It features the work of Turner Prize winning artist Douglas Gordon. Peninsula Arts has also joined forces with another History Centre partner, the South West Film and Television Archive (SWFTA), to launch their 2017 Film Commission. The deadline for submissions is 27 November. Find out more here.

They have some exciting news about next year’s Plymouth History Festival to announce very soon so keep your eyes peeled! They are also very proud to be supporting this year’s ‘Illuminate’ parade which will take place on Thursday 24 November. The event marks Thanksgiving and continues the countdown to Mayflower 2020 – the 400th anniversary of the Pilgrims setting sail from Plymouth for the New World.
