About us

Nestled in a tranquil haven on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park in Devon and along the banks of the River Dart, Buckfast Abbey’s Northgate House hotel and accommodation has all the ingredients for the perfect stay.

There can be no more relaxing an escape than at Buckfast Abbey surrounded by beautiful countryside.

Northgate House

Buckfast Abbey’s new Northgate House has all the ingredients for the perfect stay.

A choice of 33 hotel bedrooms all with en-suite facilities and offering comfort and relaxation, Northgate House is suited to Conference Centre delegates and those looking for a leisurely break.

Northgate House is also ideally suited for activity groups including ramblers and cyclists and those visiting the Abbey Church.

Guests staying at Northgate House can enjoy a Full English breakfast as part of their stay with an evening menu available and comfortable licensed bar.

 

Grangehurst House

Grangehurst House is perfect for youth organisations, schools and larger groups. The house is spread over three floors with the bedrooms split into a mix of single, twin and bunk rooms.

There is ample space for communal activities within the house, come rain or shine. In addition to a large lounge, there is a separate games room located near the main house equipped with a TV, DVD player, pool table, table football and piano. 

Alongside Grangehurst are spacious private grounds around the house that can be used for games, activities and walks. The large patio area at the back of the house with its own flower border and herb garden.

The house is only let to one group at a time, minimum charges apply.

 

Self Catering Houses

Our self-catering houses are perfect for families and come with fully equipped kitchens for self-catering. Guests can also join us for evening meals at Northgate House if they wish.

We are situated just off the A38 with stunning views of Buckfast Abbey and nearby Dartmoor which can be enjoyed from the gardens.

All of the self-catering houses come with free parking and WiFi.
