About us
Experience glamping ‘Cornwall Style’ with our bespoke shepherd’s huts made by Plankbridge the premier shepherd hut supplier.
Beautifully crafted, our shepherds huts are ideally suited to family glamping holidays for up to four. Situated within historic Mount Edgcumbe Country Park in Cornwall, but still only 15 minutes away from the heart of Plymouth City Centre, these handsome huts sit on a hilltop overlooking Plymouth Naval Yard and the entire city and its environs.
Due to the park’s location on the Rame peninsula, there are views straight across Plymouth Sound, presenting guests with one of the best views in Britain. This glamping location is spectacular – guests will have so many activities to choose from at this 865-acre country park, which sits snugly around the 16th century red Staddon Grit Tudor house.
From the 1200 BC Bronze Age burial mound that shelters the huts from the wind; the fallow deer park whose inhabitants are descended from the original herds established here in 1515 by permission of Henry VIII; walks around the park’s extensive formal gardens or the 9-mile coastal path which leads you to the beautiful naval ports of Kingsand and Cawsand - the park surrounding the shepherds huts is full to the brim with spectacular views, layers of historic fascination, notable religious and landmark buildings, and experiences that will stay with your family forever.
These elegant, bespoke English Oak shepherd huts have a distinct vintage feel invoking memories of bucolic childhood holidays and simpler times before technology and are perfect for that “swallows and amazons” getaway for all the family, when glamping Cornwall at Mount Edgcumbe.
INTERIOR & FACILITIES
With a double fold-out bed which sits cleverly on top of the table or fold the table back up for a dining area with benches either side. There are two single bunks with woollen blankets and pillows aplenty transforming the hut into a 4-person sleeping cocoon. A wood-burner sits in the middle of the hut and will keep you warm cooler evenings
Next to the hut is a movable kitchen pod and all the cutlery, crockery and cooking equipment you’ll need is stored cleverly near to the fire, as well as essentials such as candles, torches and wood for the fire. But if self-catering isn’t for you, then there are two café restaurants on site that provide breakfast and dinner.
There is plenty of outside sitting space and you have chairs at the foot of the hut for your morning coffee, as well as a larger bench and fire pit area for evenings under this great expanse of sky, so you’ll feel like you’re on the edge of the natural world, watching city life from the comfort of your countryside cabin. These huts sit confidently in their surroundings, allowing you and your family to enjoy a memory-making staycation in Cornwall’s best kept glamping secret.
You’ll even find a few 50’s inspired games and books dotted around the hut to keep you entertained of an evening.
The bathroom block is around 150 metres from the huts, offering a private shower room with an entry code provided on arrival, and flushing toilets and wash basins.
