Christmas seems like a distant memory, it’s cold and dark in the mornings and summer feels like a long way off, but don’t despair! We’ve picked out a few things to do in Plymouth over the next couple of months that will brighten your spirits, banish the blues and make you feel good…

Laugh out loud at Plymouth Pavilions

Laughter is the best medicine so why not grab a ticket to see some of the UK’s best stand-up comedians at Plymouth Pavilions this winter? TV favourites Katherine Ryan, Ed Byrne, Joel Dommett, Bill Bailey, Michael McIntyre and Jason Manford will all be appearing on stage in Plymouth before spring arrives to help you laugh away your winter blues!

Catch a show at the Theatre Royal

Treat yourself to one of the many performances taking place at Plymouth’s Theatre Royal this winter. See popular musicals Hairspray and Son of a Preacher Man, watch beautiful ballet courtesy of Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella or enjoy the wonderfully witty play, The Importance of Being Earnest.

Rave with the whole family!

Take the children along to join the award-winning Big Fish, Little Fish crew for a whole load of fun at a family-friendly rave on 17 February at the University of Plymouth. With a dance floor full of bubbles, glitter cannons, huge balloons and a giant parachute dance, it’s guaranteed to cheer you up and entertain the kids!

Watch Britain’s top divers in action

The British Diving Championships will be held at Plymouth Life Centre on 26 – 28 January. It’s a unique opportunity to see some of the country’s best divers - including Tom Daley, Jack Laugher, Chris Mears and Grace Reid - competing to be crowned British Champions. Tickets are still available for some of the sessions, but snap them up quickly!
