Recruitment is now underway for a unique role supporting businesses across Plymouth’s impressive waterfront.

Plymouth Waterfront Partnership Business Improvement District (PWP BID) is looking for a new Waterfront Manager and Chief Executive to help unlock the area’s full potential and shape the city’s future.

The BID represents around 900 businesses along the waterfront, including in the historic Barbican and Sutton Harbour, Royal William Yard, Plymouth Hoe and Mount Batten areas. Since 2012, it has delivered two five-year business plans including 70 projects that aim to attract more visitors, create attractive places and reduce business costs.

Chair of PWP, Nick Buckland OBE, said: “We’re looking for an energetic and highly competent individual to deliver our successful Business Improvement District, whilst engaging with and supporting businesses through these extraordinary times. We need a new vision for the waterfront that embeds collaboration and innovation at its heart, working in lock-step with Resurgam, the city’s wider COVID-19 recovery plan.”

PWP works closely with key city partners, including Plymouth City Council, Destination Plymouth and the neighbouring Plymouth City Centre Company BID.

Council leader Tudor Evans OBE said: “The waterfront is the jewel in Plymouth’s crown and its home to a fantastic line-up of businesses. So much has been achieved in partnership with PWP over the last ten years, but there’s more to be done and we’re looking for the right person who can drive the BID forward – especially during these incredibly difficult times, when businesses need all our support more than ever.”

The BID is currently three years through its second five-year term which ends March 2022.

The role profile asks for an enthusiastic, experienced and dynamic manager that can lead the BID team forward. The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working in a BID or town centre management role. It’s also crucial that they have the ability to engage with key stakeholders, develop effective relationships and provide strategic and operational management.

Applications are open until 11 June. For more information, please see the PWP website: waterfrontbid.co.uk
