About us

History oozes from the cobblestones in Plymouth and we have thousands of cobblestones and more history than you can believe. But, you don’t have to be a history buff to enjoy what Plymouth has to offer. Whimsical Tours are walking, talking, feasting experiences that combine culture and curiosity with the opportunity to taste some absolutely delicious local food.

What to Expect:

Join me for a whimsical wander around the city, seeking out some of the hidden gems in Plymouth. From The Royal William Yard - once a Georgian show-case victualling yard for the Navy, now a show-case hub of eateries, apartments and spectacular activities including Illuminate! to the Barbican, visiting the historic harbour, where sailors, merchants, pirates and Pilgrims have sailed from. Explore the Elizabethan House & Gardens and step inside the home of Plymouth Gin; meander towards the city centre, rebuilt entirely after WWII and where old meets new from the Prysten House to The Messenger, The Box and the Barcode.

As for your feast, what will you choose? A delicious Devon Cream Tea in a picturesque garden; a cheeky Gin cocktail in the Barbican; or would vegan delights or  a fishy catch of the day tickle your taste-buds? Whatever your preference for refreshment and sustenance, a Moveable Feast will provide.

Plymouth has been my home for the past 20 years although I have lived in the South West forever - from Gloucester to Wiltshire to Dorset spending many happy months exploring Cornwall along the way. I am an experienced, professional tour guide and fully insured but please don’t expect uniforms and a long lists of dates … although, of course, there will be some! These experiences are anecdotal interactions between newly found friends, who want to know more about the places they are visiting and the people who have lived here. And it helps if you love good food!

I love Plymouth and it’s quirkiness; it’s bursting with art, history, culture, conservation and delicious eateries and I can’t wait to share it with you.

A bespoke experience can be tailored to your interests - and can last for anything from an hour to a full day. Just expect an adventure where wonder leads to wandering and everything is better with a moveable feast! We’ll enjoy a Whimsical Walk and a Moveable Feast in this unexpectedly delightful city together @whimsicaltours
