Jubilee Beacon

In the UK, there’s a long tradition of celebrating significant Royal occasions with the lighting of a beacon.

Thousands of Platinum Jubilee Beacons will be lit across the UK and across the Commonwealth. The beacons will be lit at 9.45pm on Thursday 2 June. Plymouth’s beacon will be on the walls of the Royal Citadel on the Hoe.

The city’s civic leaders will attend the ceremonial lighting of the beacon inside the Citadel’s walls and the event will be livestreamed on the What’s On Plymouth Facebook page for everyone to watch.
