Objects of desire, fire, poets, fables, music, carnival, song, street food, gin palace – and over 30 of the finest local contemporary craft makers will be selling unique Christmas gifts.Wonderland is a must for the style and design conscious and provides a great opportunity to buy unique, handmade, local Christmas gifts.
There will also be demonstrations from local and resident makers including a blacksmith's forge. During this special weekend at Dartington you'll find over 30 of the finest, local contemporary craft makers, selling everything from furniture, toys, fine jewellery, preserves and ferments, chocolates and cakes, home spun yarns, to ceramics, honey, candles, textiles, glass and woodwork.
Each maker has been specially selected for the quality and uniqueness of their craft, and each will be on hand to talk to you about the ideas and techniques behind their work and there will be a range of merchandise from local art graduates.
Take part in workshops to make your own groovy gifts and festive delights. Wreath making, ceramic decorations, beeswax brioche tincandles, printed Christmas cards and calligraphy and paper origami tree decorations. Over this wonderful festive weekend you can also hear music from local choirs singing Balkan and Nordic songs , clog dancers, and local pianists playing festive tunes in the Ship Studio. Launching Wonderland this year will also be a Romany band, gin palace, fire pits, flame throwers, street food and you must book a visit with the Nordic Santa Frau in the Shepherds hut!
You will also be able to meet our Shippon artists, who will open their studios – including Dartington Printmakers and their annual Off The Peg print exhibition, Studio 45 pottery, and Maria Moorhouse's stone carving work. Pole and Hunt Blacksmiths will also be demonstrating.
