Fantastic Fireworks from Luton, Bedfordshire has been crowned the ‘British Firework Champion 2015’ at this year’s British Firework Championships following a spectacular two-day showdown between six of the UK’s top pyrotechnics specialists on Plymouth Hoe.

Runner up this year is Spyrotechnics, from Chesterfield, Derbyshire and in third place is 1st Galaxy from Nottingham.

The world famous British Firework Championships is set to return the Plymouth for its 19th showdown in August 2015.

Visitors from all over the world can see the skies light up over Plymouth's spectacular waterfront on Tuesday 18 and Wednesday 19 August.

The Royal Air Force’s world-famous aerobatics team, The Red Arrows, will take to the skies for an exciting, heart-pounding air display this summer.

Residents and visitors to Plymouth will be able to watch as fast jet pilots put on a show to remember. Taking to the air on the second night of the British Firework Championships on Wednesday 19 August they will be displaying their acrobatic talents across the beautiful setting of Plymouth Hoe, the Arrows display will take place at 7pm. 

The Twister Aerobatics display team will be wowing crowds with their electrifying pyrotechnic display on the first night of the championships, taking place on Tuesday 18 August. This amazing display will start at approximately 9pm.

The British Firework Championships, held this year on Tuesday 18 & Wednesday 19 August, is one of Britain’s most spectacular firework displays.  Jointly organised by The Event Services Association (TESA) and Plymouth City Council, the Championships feature six top pyrotechnics companies who set off four tonnes of fireworks over the Plymouth Waterfront as they battle it out to become the British Firework champion. The firework displays begin an 9.30pm on both nights.

There will also be a live music stage run by Heart Radio, fair ground rides and catering all available on the Hoe.

Travel Information

Many of the city’s main car parks will be open 24 hours with Western Approach and Lambhay Hill open until midnight.

In addition the multi-storey car park behind the National Marine Aquarium and the Barbican lock gate will be open until 11.30pm. Drake Circus will also be operating extended opening hours until 12pm offering parking at £4 after 4pm.

The Harbour car park will also be open until 12pm on both nights.

A number of spaces for blue badge holders will be available on the Hoe Promenade being offered on a first come, first served basis. Access will be via Elliott Street from 5.30pm.

For those planning on driving, Madeira Road and Hoe Road will be closed on both days between 1pm and 11pm with some parking restrictions on Citadel Road from 4pm.

Anyone traveling to Jennycliff / Mountbatten must be aware that there will also be road closures at Staddon Lane and Lawrence Road.

Car parks are expected to be full so it is advisable to travel by public transport where possible.

Special Park and Ride services are being provided especially for the event by First Devon and Cornwall, who will be running regular buses from the George Junction, Milehouse and Coypool sites on both nights.

PR1 will run every 15 minutes from the George with last inbound departure at 8.45pm, 8.49pm from The Future Inn and 8.58pm from Milehouse. PR2 will run every 15 minutes from Coypool with last inbound departure at 8.45pm.

After the Event services PR1 and PR2 will run from 10.10pm until all passengers have been cleared and will only pick up from Stop A11 on Royal Parade. Other City Centre stops - the Viaduct, Charles Street (Drake Circus Mall), Mayflower Street and Western Approach will NOT be served.

For those planning on viewing the fireworks from Jennycliff a small limited amount of private parking will be available at Staddon Heights Golf Club. For more details contact the club by calling 01752 402475. Staddiscombe Football Club at the top of Church Hill Road are also offering parking facilities for a charge as well as free parking for blue badge holders.
