Plymouth's unique location, with its combination of sea, moors, rivers and lush countryside, makes it the perfect venue for those seeking a more active holiday break. From ice skating to bowling, swimming to skiing whatever activity you enjoy you are sure to find it here.

If you prefer your sport of the spectator variety we have a number of successful teams, Plymouth Argyle play their football at Home Park, Plymouth Albion play rugby at the Brickfields and Plymouth Raiders basketball team can be seen in action at Plymouth Pavilions.

Tee off on the internationally renowned St Mellion golf course, ot try a round at one of the other fine courses in the area. If you prefer a gun to a putter, there's clay pigeon shooting at Newnham Park.

Lovers of the sea will find Plymouth exceeds their dreams. Choices include windsurfing, canoeing, sailing, scuba diving, water skiing and RIB riding. The water is clean and clear and the ammenities are excellent , particularly a the many marinas and the Mount Batten Watersports Centre.

Ice Rink

Plymouth Pavilions boasts the only permanent Ice Rink in the South West.  The Ice Rink is fitted with a state-of-the-art light and laser disco system so the regular ice discos held here have the best light and sound show around. The Rink has full disabled access.

Wheel of Plymouth

The Wheel of Plymouth is 60 metres in height and is an awe-inspiring, moving platform offering stunning 360 degree panoramic views of the city from a unique perspective. Our capsules are fully enclosed and climate-controlled. Wireless interactive commentary is available in all capsules, giving the visitor information on the spectacular views they are enjoying from the sky.   The Wheel of Plymouth is open daily until the end of September 2011 from 10am until late. Tickets can be booked in advance by contacting the wheel here or can be purchased on the day.   Adults - £7.50 Children (4 - 14 years) - £5.00 Children (2 - 3 years) - £1.00 Infant (1 year and under) - FREE Senior Citizen / Student - £5.50
