Plymouth is also the home to several top TV chefs; local boys Chris and James Tanner run the hugely popular Barbican Kitchen restaurant, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall opened the River Cottage Canteen and Deli at Royal William Yard in 2011 and British cookery legend Gary Rhodes has opened Rhodes @ The Dome on the Plymouth Hoe.

With more than 100 traders showcasing everything from Cornish curries and Devonshire chillies to Somerset cider and Dorset blueberries, alongside a packed programme of chef demonstrations and fun for all the family, the annual food and drink festival is without a doubt one of the highlights of Plymouth’s event calendar.
Plymouth Seafood Festival
2012 saw the launch of Plymouth’s brand new Seafood Festival. As part of the wider Marine City Festival, the two-day celebration of the city’s fantastic fish took place on the Barbican in September. The weekend of activity included quayside stalls, a cookery theatre with top chefs demonstrating the best ways to prepare the freshly caught seafood, live music, street entertainment and much more.
