Plymouth Armed Forces Day is an annual event held in support of the national Armed Forces Day initiative.

On Saturday 29 June set against the stunning natural backdrop of the Plymouth Sound, Plymouth will be hosting an Armed Forces Day Event on Plymouth Hoe.

This will provide a unique opportunity to see the Armed Forces up-close and will feature displays from current personnel, veterans, cadet forces, support agencies and charities.

The focus and intention of the day is to show our ‘thanks’, raise awareness of and support for our Armed Forces community and celebrate the outstanding contribution it makes to our country.

Plans so far include:

10am - RAF & Allied Air Force Memorial Service

10am - Static villages from the Royal Navy, Army, RAF and Royal Marines including military vehicles, demonstrations and display

10am - Veterans village with over 40 agencies and organisations engaged in the support of our veterans

11am - Children's activity area opens

11am - PYMS Music programme starts

11.10am - Music of the Night Choral Foundation

11.30am - Arena displays starts

11.30am - Morice Town Field Gun Display

11.45am - Sea Cadets Continuity Drill display

11.55am - Royal Marines Volunteer Cadet Corps RMVCC Band

12.05pm - Community Covenant speech

12.10pm - Military Kids Choir

12.15pm- Royal Marine Band Plymouth

12.45pm - ACF Rifle Drill display

1pm - Air display - Douglas Skyrider and Extra 260

1.15pm - HMB Devonport and Raleigh Field Gun Crew Competition

1.50pm - 335 Sqn Continuity Drill Display

2pm - South West Pipes and Drums

2.20pm - Plymouth & Cornwall Wing ATC Corps of Drums

2.30pm - HMS Raleigh New Recruits Arms Drill Display

3pm - Devon Wind Youth Orchestra           

3.30pm - Parade of Standards

3.45pm - South West Pipes and Drums

3.45pm - Stage music from Company ‘B'

4.45pm - Air display - Yakovlevs, 2 Super Yak 52’s, Sea Fury – RN Historic Flight

5pm - South West Pipes and bands

Special events and activities take place across the city each year to raise awareness of the city's service community and celebrate the outstanding contribution it makes to our country, as well as forge closer links between the armed forces and young people.

The city will welcome thousands of visitors from home and abroad to join in honouring and paying tribute to the dedication of the nation's serving personnel, veterans and their families, as well as the many agencies that support them.

Disabled parking will be available from the Elliot Street end of the Hoe from 9.30am and will be on a first come first served basis.
