Pancake Day is just around the corner (Tuesday 13 February) and there are plenty of fantastic locations in Plymouth where you can celebrate the occasion. Are you a stickler for tradition and love sugar and lemon on top of your pancakes, or do you prefer something exotic?

Whatever your preference there are a wide variety of restaurants and cafes serving up delights this pancake day. Check out some of our top recommendations

The Boathouse

Indulge in the American-style pancakes at The Boathouse on The Barbican. Dine with the sea by your side, and check out the pancakes available on the restaurant's breakfast menu served until 11:30 am every morning.

Pho

Head down to Pho and enjoy Pancake Day with a Vietnamese twist. Their classic Vietnamese pancake (banh xeo) will blow you away! Made with a thin layer of rice flour, water and turmeric, it’s fried up in a pan and filled with either tofu, chicken or prawns and served with fresh Vietnamese herbs and a salty dipping sauce (nuoc cham).

Seco Lounge

Pop down to The Royal William Yard and celebrate the day at Seco Lounge. Overlooking the sea with gorgeous views across to Cornwall the fantastically located venue dishes up sweet or savoury pancakes to suit every taste.

Monty's

Local favourite Monty's guarantees a warm welcome and a lively atmosphere at its great venue on The Barbican. Choose between fresh fruit or crispy bacon with maple syrup on their pancakes which are served as part of their all-day breakfast menu.

If you’re after a great start to this pancake day or a venue to catch up with friends, Monty's is a must.

The Dock

Pancakes and waffles are a huge part of the breakfast menu at The Dock at Millbay. Take a seat in the sun overlooking King Point Marina and treat yourself with a variety of toppings to choose from to start your day off the right way. Breakfast is served from 8:30 until 11:30 am here every day.

Early Bird

Celebrate the day at the popular Early Bird cafe. Visit one of the two venues in the city centre or on Mutley and treat yourself to an incredible pancake stack.

There are some unique topping choices here that must be tried if you're a sucker for savoury pancakes such as the crispy chicken and maple syrup pancakes to the cafe's classic stack consisting of sausage patty, streaky bacon, fried egg, hash brown and maple syrup. It makes you hungry just thinking about it!

Kawaffle

Pop down to the hustle and bustle of Plymouth Market and treat yourself to one of the mouthwatering pancake stacks at Kawaffle. Highly regarded when it comes to bubble waffles, the team at Kawaffle also know their way around a pancake. Choose your own toppings and dig in - you won't be disappointed!
