Spring is here! Welcome the vibrant colours of the season with a Spring walk in Plymouth as the days get longer and the weather gets warmer! From waterside walks to countryside strolls, there are plenty of places in Plymouth to explore this Spring, check out a selection of our top picks.

                    

The Hoe Trail

Discover the fascinating sights and sounds of Plymouth Hoe this Spring with the Hoe Trail courtesy of the Plymouth Trails App. Start your journey in the serenity of Sutton Harbour before making your way around the 2.1-mile route.

Take in the stunning blue waters of Plymouth Sound under the spring skies, and if the weather's warm enough why not grab an ice cream from one of the many vendors along the seafront?

Tamar Valley 

Explore several beautiful trails in the jaw-dropping surroundings of the Tamar Valley. Located a short drive from Plymouth, the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty offers a diverse and exciting landscape to visitors of all ages.

Take a stroll by the riverside, wander through the historic towns and meander through the glorious woodlands this Spring - you won't be disappointed.

                     

Devonport Park 

Head to one of the highest points in Plymouth this spring at Devonport Park. Known as the 'people's park', the green area is the oldest formal public park in the city and has plenty to see with memorial gardens, a bandstand and a cafe among popular attractions. The height of the park allows for a stunning views across the River Tamar to Cornwall, and is well worth a trip. 

                         

Burrator Reservoir

Circle the stunning Burrator Reservoir this spring and explore the fascinating colours of the season. The trail around the water is largely flat making it a great venue for a family stroll. Nestled in the grounds of Dartmoor National Park, take in the beautiful views of the reservoir nestled beneath the rugged tors of the moors.

Bovisand Beach

A short drive east of Plymouth is the sandy shores of Bovisand Beach. Situated on the South West Coast Path, the beach is a great place to explore for a Spring walk.

From here there are plenty of walks west or east that show the seasonal spring sunshine and the amazing views over Plymouth Sound. 

                   

Mount Edgcumbe House and Gardens

Take a short journey on the Cremyll Ferry this spring and explore the stunning scenery of Mount Edgcumbe House and Gardens. The impeccably-kept surroundings are bursting with vibrant colours and divine views across Plymouth Sound.

The gardens are packed-full of fascinating historical facts, a national collection of camellias, beaches, alpaca-walking experiences and so much more!

                  

Mount Wise Park

An often-forgotten venue in Plymouth, Mount Wise Park offers a great location to get out and about this Spring. Take a short walk across the green spaces of the park and gaze out across the water to the Mayflower Marina, The Royal William Yard and beyond. 

Head to the park's highest point, a former signalling station which is now a 360-degree viewing platform offering expansive views from Devonport to Dartmoor. Be sure to visit the memorial to Sir Robert Falcon Scott, one of Plymouth's most famous sons. The impressive monument pays tribute to the ill-fated polar expedition led by Scott in 1912, the final words of the explorer's diary are displayed on the memorial.
