Wine Library opens at Sutton Harbour with a host of events this autumn
21st September 2018
HonkyTonk Wine Library, a new destination for wine lovers across Plymouth, will open its doors to the public for the first time on September 25th.
The wine lounge and deli is based on North East Quay, on the edge of Sutton Harbour’s historic waterfront in Plymouth, Britain’s Ocean City, and overlooks the marina. Co-owned by couple Fitz Spencer and Zoe Brodie, the venue will not only sell wines from around the world, but also offer locally-sourced deli foods and quality coffee as well.
The new business has already attracted a lot of interest since an announcement was made about the unit letting by owners Sutton Harbour Holdings plc. After a major refit and redesign of the unit in the Pinnacle Quay building, formerly occupied by The Hidden Olive restaurant, Fitz and Zoe are ready to open to customers.
Zoe Brodie, Co-owner of HonkyTonk Wine Library, said: “Our concept is definitely a hybrid one. HonkyTonk Wine Library is a shop, but it’s also somewhere you can have a coffee or a business meeting, or enjoy lunch from our deli with your friends, whether to eat in or take away.
“To start with we’ll be supplying locally baked bread, with the aim of introducing our own bread baked on the premises later. We aim to supply and serve British artisan cheeses alongside a charcuterie selection. We are also planning to devote one of our walls to displaying artwork from local artists, so we are hoping that will be another reason why people will want to visit us.”
HonkyTonky Wine Library will be open from 9am to 9pm from Tuesday to Thursday, 9am to 10pm on Fridays, 10am to 10pm on Saturdays and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
Fitz and Zoe hope their wine lounge and deli will become a hub for wine lovers across the city and surrounding areas. They will be welcoming a select VIP group of local wine lovers and guests for an early sneak peak of the HonkyTonk Wine Library at a pre-opening evening taking place on September 22nd.
Zoe added: “We will be selling wines from around the world, labels that are a little bit out of the ordinary and wines which a story behind them.
“Our main pouring prosecco for example, is Boteggo, one of Fitz’s favourite wine products, and visited many times.”
There are already a number of exciting events on the menu at HonkyTonk Wine Library for this autumn and winter, including:
- Chilean and Argentinean wine tasting evening on October 9th
- Comedy evening on November 15th
- Christmas Fayre on November 17th, where attendees can expect to sample wines, beers, gins and all sorts of delicious foods, with a collaboration of 5 local businesses also showcasing products. This is a ticketed event so look out for the link to book.
To book tickets, see Zoe and Fitz in the shop or visit the wine library’s Facebook page.
Mark Slade of Burton Knowles, letting agents for Sutton Harbour Holdings plc, said: “It’s great to celebrate HonkyTonk Wine Library being open for business. The wine lounge is a wonderful addition to the ever-growing food and drink offering here in Sutton Harbour, right in the heart of Britain’s Ocean City.
“This wine lounge and deli will be a unique asset to the area, offering something a little different for customers.”
