A little piece of paradise
As part of the ongoing drive towards self-sustainability, Mount Edgcumbe Country Park is pleased to announce the completion of their project to renovate a 300 year old building at Captain Blake’s Point and turn it into a stunning holiday location for visitors to the area. Originally built in the 18th century, the building has been used for many purposes over the years including a YMCA Youth Hostel. In recent years the condition of the building had begun to deteriorate so it was decided to restore the original footprint of the property but with a touch of luxury. The property, Captain Blake’s Retreat is now a one bedroom holiday property available to hire through Classic Cottages. Situated in a SSSI area of splendid isolation, overlooking a wide expanse of deserted beach, visitors can enjoy the feeling of being on a deserted island whilst still only being 20 minutes away from the main access points to Devon and Cornwall.
Park Manager Chris Burton said “We are delighted with the outcome of the restoration of this historic property. Although we are working tirelessly towards our goal of self-sustainability, we still have a duty of care to the land and buildings in our care.”
