Anticipation builds for the opening of Plymouth's new magical Christmas market
26th November 2025

Preparations are in full swing as award-winning operators, Market Place, put the finishing touches in place at the all-new Plymouth Christmas Market, set to open tomorrow at 10am.
The Piazza will be transformed into a glittering winter wonderland, with around 50 beautifully decorated chalets bringing festive cheer and showcasing Plymouth’s entrepreneurial spirit alongside seasonal delights from around the globe.
Visitors will be spoilt for choice with a huge variety of authentic treats, including Belgian chocolates, loaded doughnuts, Greek gyros, giant bratwurst from the iconic Schwenkgrille, Yorkshire pudding wraps and Turkish delights. Visitors can take a culinary trip around the world before relaxing in the German bar with its cosy undercover seating, enjoying warming mugs of Glühwein, spiced cider and festive cocktails until late into the evening.
With free entry, the market promises a vibrant shopping experience filled with unique and meaningful gifts. Locally made ceramics, illustrations and intricate jewellery will sit alongside ornate Christmas decorations, handmade candles, and cosy hats and scarves perfect for ticking off that all-important Christmas shopping list.
Alex Pidgen, Market Manager at Market Place, said: “We are thrilled to bring our signature festive market to Plymouth and celebrate the vibrancy, charm and culture of this wonderful city. Our aim is to create a joyful and immersive destination that delights visitors, supports local businesses and drives city centre footfall.
"We are especially proud to champion young entrepreneurs by partnering with the National Market Traders Federation to donate a chalet to four local traders on a rotational basis, giving them the chance to showcase their products free of charge to thousands of visitors.”
Festive magic will come alive at the markets' dedicated entertainment stage, hosting acoustic sets, community choirs, vintage jazz and contemporary dance performances from talented artists, including The Hot House Combo (performing on opening night at 6pm), Andy Quick Trio, The Busketeers and Real Steel. Check out the full entertainment schedule.
Families can step inside the giant snowglobe to capture magical memories or take part in the weekly scavenger hunt created in partnership with Plymouth Pavilions, where winners will receive exclusive tickets to some of the city’s most popular Christmas and New Year events.
Steve Hughes, Chief Executive of Plymouth City Centre Company, said: “Plymouth’s Christmas Market will be at the heart of our city’s festive celebrations, bringing thousands of visitors together to enjoy its magic. Beyond the atmosphere, it plays a vital role in supporting local businesses, boosting trade, and showcasing the creativity of our community. We look forward to seeing residents and visitors alike embrace everything the market has to offer.”
