Bonfire Night on Plymouth Hoe set to return
12th October 2026

Head to Plymouth Hoe on Bonfire Night for a packed event of shimmering night skies, a huge bonfire and fun for all the family.
It’s one of the city’s biggest and best-attended free events put on by the Council, with up to 20,000 spectators flocking to enjoy a night-time spectacular and get warmed by the enormous fire on a chilly evening.
This year Devon-based Sonic Fireworks will be part sponsoring the event and will be launching rockets, shells and bursts of colour and sparkle during a 15-minute fireworks display from the Citadel wall. The Plymouth branch of A&M Pallets kindly supplied and delivered the old pallets of wood to make the bonfire.
The fairground rides and stalls will be ready for action from 4pm and the bonfire will be lit at 7pm, with a spectacular display of fireworks starting at 7.30pm to round off the night.
Councillor Matt Smith, Cabinet Member for Housing, City Centre Regeneration and Events, said: “It’s a fabulous, free, fun event for family and friends on our incredible waterfront.
“But it’s more than that. Putting on a great show here reduces the number of private bonfires and fireworks – that’s better for our emergency services, better for hedgehogs who have been known to hide in bonfires and better for cats and dogs as there’s less noise across the city night skies."
Parking in the area around the Hoe and the Barbican will be limited and people are being advised to use city centre car parks, such as Western Approach or Theatre Royal. Remember the Civic Centre car park is now closed.
Plan your travel in advance as there will be road closures around the area. Disabled parking will be available on the Hoe for those displaying a blue badge.
Public transport such as Great Western Railway, Plymouth Citybus and Park & Ride, will be operating their normal service.
