Roll up! Roll up! The West End Carnival is back with an awesome line-up of free entertainment

Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 29, as we celebrate the vitality and diversity of our West End Plymouth business community in the streets around Plymouth Market.

Come and join in for all the sights, sounds and smells of the carnival as the streets come alive with live music, dance, Samba bands, Taiko drummers, circus acts and workshops, street food, and arts and crafts stalls.

Samba bands and Plymouth Rock Choir will get you in the carnival mood from 11am and make sure you catch the amazing Weapons of Sound, the UK’s most eco-friendly junk band on the main stage at Frankfort Gate playing their high energy disco and samba sounds.

Sponsored by Plymouth Citybus, Plymouth Community Homes and The Box, there will be something to catch your eye or get your feet stomping all around the West End.

This is the day when the streets are closed to traffic and our traders come outside with tastes from around the world, so come and enjoy a FREE day out with the family and see what the vibrant West End has to offer.

Inside Plymouth Market you will find free face painting, princess and superhero characters, as well as a huge range of delicious food and drink stalls and independent shopping.

Steve Hughes, chief executive of the Plymouth City Centre Company, said: “The West End is a special part of the city centre with mostly independent businesses and a diverse and vibrant community with a growing reputation for brilliant food with tastes from around the world.

“The Carnival gives us the opportunity to showcase that offer and we want people from all our communities to come and join in the celebrations. Everyone is invited.”
