Winners of British Firework Championships 2026 unveiled

AJ Pyrotechnics have been announced as the winners of the British Firework Championships 2026, in partnership with Associated British Ports and ZeroUSV. 

The Kent-based team delivered the final performance on the second night of the Championships and impressed the judges with their display.

The Fireworkers finished in second place, while there was a tie for third, with Electrify Pyrotechnics and Nemisis Pyrotechnics sharing the honours.

The teams were judged on the quality of their performance, compliance with the brief, symmetry, patterns, timing, and the overall artistic impression of the display.

The Fireworkers were also named winners of the Young People’s Choice Award, supported by Foster for Plymouth.  

The Young People’s Choice award provided an opportunity for up to ten local care experienced children and young people to be involved in the judging process, as they gave the judges their scores based on four categories: variety of fireworks and sequences, rhythm of the display, use of colour and the wow factor.  

Adding to the spectacle for 2026, a new drone show opened each evening ahead of the fireworks. The synchronised aerial displays brought an iconic Plymouth story to life above the waterfront, creating a striking new moment for the crowds and setting the scene for the Championship displays. The show was commissioned by Plymouth City Council and delivered by Star Symphony Drones. 

On Wednesday evening, crowds gathered early on Plymouth Hoe to witness the solar eclipse. The rare event saw the moon cover up to 96% of the sun ahead of this year’s British Firework Championships.

Wednesday 12 August  

9.30pm - Electrify Pyrotechnics  

9.50pm - Smart Pyrotechnics 

10.10pm - G2 Fireworks 

Thursday 13 August  

9.30pm - Nemisis Pyrotechnics  

9.50pm - The Fireworkers 

10.10pm - AJ Pyrotechnics
