Find out all the ways you can travel to Seafest.   

To help reach the new extended areas of Seafest we’re offering subsidised ferry trips between Mount Batten and the Barbican and via Plymouth Boat Trips – the Barbican to Royal William Yard and Mount Edgcumbe.

Discounted Ferry travel 

Plymouth Boat Trips are sponsoring Seafest Plymouth in partnership with Plymouth Sound National Marine Park, providing visitors with 50% discount on tickets for the Waterlink Ferry, over the festival weekend. This links up The Barbican, Royal William Yard and Saltash.

Passengers travelling from the Barbican or Saltash and wishing to continue to Mount Edgcumbe can request a drop-off en route. This drop-off service is available by request only and must be arranged with the crew during your crossing.

For return journeys to the Barbican or Saltash, passengers should take the Cremyll Ferry (request a Waterlink Ferry Connection Ticket), then walk along Cremyll Street to Royal William Yard to rejoin the Waterlink Ferry service. Please note there is no direct crossing between Royal William Yard and Mount Edgcumbe. 

There are also discounted ferry trips on the Mount Batten Ferry, with adult tickets at £1.50pp each way while kids go free between 10am and 5pm throughout the weekend.

Free bus travel

Travel to all the Seafest locations for free this weekend with thanks to the Free Weekend Bus Travel offer. The free travel offer is being funded through Government bus services funding and delivered by the Plymouth Enhanced Bus Partnership. Take advantage of free bus travel and hop on the 25 or 34 service to take you around the waterfront and Royal William Yard. The Barbican & Sutton Harbour 

By Foot: From the traffic lights at the centre of Royal Parade, head south towards the sea, passing the Plymouth Guildhall on your left. Cross the road at Princess Street and head towards Notte Street. Cross at the traffic lights and turn left and head towards the entrance of Southside Street.  The distance from the centre of Royal Parade to the entrance to Southside Street and it’s approximately 500m. 

By Bus: Catch the Plymouth Citybus number 25 for the centre Royal Parade, the Barbican and the Hoe route. 

By Train: Travel with GWR to Plymouth train station which is 1.7km from the Barbican and Sutton Harbour.  

By Car: Join the A38 Devon Expressway to Plymouth and follow signs for Sutton Harbour and the Barbican. 

Parking: There are more than 20 car parks in and around Plymouth city centre, the Barbican and Sutton Harbour, providing thousands of parking spaces for visitors.  

Road closures: The Parade / Basket Ope (from the junction at Vauxhall Street) – from 7am on Friday12 September to 2pm on Monday 15 September. Southside Street (from the junction of Notte Street to the junction of Lambhay Hill) – from 9.30am to 5.30pm on both Sat 13 and Sun 14 September 

By Bike: Why not use Beryl Bikes, they are a fun and convenient way to travel across the city, with many pick up and drop off points conveniently located. Take a ride along Plymouth’s stunning Waterfront on the National Cycle Network routes 2 and 27 to reach the Barbican and Sutton Harbour.  

By boat: Plymouth Boat Trips are operating the Cawsand Ferry from The Barbican, from 9am to 5pm. (This is not included in the 50% off tickets).

Royal William Yard 

Address: Royal William Yard, Plymouth, PL1 3RP       

By Foot: The Yard is about half an hours walk from the city centre. Access into the Yard can be through the pedestrian arches at the main gate or along the board walk the right of the entrance that leads around Slaughterhouse Building to the marina 

By Bus: From the City Centre, you can catch the Plymouth Citybus 34 Service, which leaves from Royal Parade approximately every 30 mins. This takes you to the main gate of Royal William Yard in under 10 minutes. Alternatively, the 21/21A service travels through Stonehouse, which is a 10 minute walk away.    

By Car: Use Post Code PL1 3GD for Sat Nav directions. 

Parking: The Yard operates a pay on display parking system at Royal William Yard which is managed by SIP Car Parks. You can pay for your parking by phone via the app or at machines on site that accept coins, cards and contactless payments. 

By boat: Plymouth Boat Trips are operating the Saltash Ferry from Royal William Yard, from 9.45am to 6pm. (This is not included in the 50% off tickets).

Mount Edgcumbe 

Address: Cremyll, Torpoint PL10 1HZ. For detailed travel information, visit the Mount Edgcumbe website. 

By Bus: You can board the Plymouth Citybus 70(B) Service from Royal Parade, departing roughly every hour, and will drop you off near to Mount Edgcumbe. 

By boat: Accessible via Cremyll Ferry, which departs from Admiral's Hard Plymouth, this service operates daily and takes only 7 minutes.

Using the Waterlink Ferry discounted tickets - passengers travelling from the Barbican or Saltash and wishing to continue to Mount Edgcumbe can request a drop-off en route. This drop-off service is available by request only and must be arranged with the crew during your crossing.

By Car:  From Plymouth you can take the Tamar Bridge, or go via the Torpoint Car Ferry. 

Parking: Mount Edgcumbe has a number of car parks available around the park. 

Mount Batten 

Address: The Mountbatten Watersports and Activities Centre, 70 Lawrence Road, Plymouth PL9 9SJ  

By Bus: You will need to get the First Bus – Number 2 from Royal Parade which then takes you to Mount Batten            

By Boat: You can catch the Mount Batten ferry over from the Barbican landing stage, which will take you to the pontoon at the Mount Batten Watersports and Activities Centre. Ferry tickets for crossings 10am – 5pm will have a 50% discount.  

By Car: Turn left off of the A38 Expressway at Marsh Mills Roundabout onto A374 signed “Plymouth City Centre”. After 3⁄4 of a mile, get into the right-hand lane and follow signs for Kingsbridge, Plymstock A379. This will take you across Laira Bridge, keep to the right-hand lane there will be a Brown sign on the right saying follow all signs to Mount Batten. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Pomphlett Road Signposted Plymstock.  

Follow the road until you arrive at the next set of Traffic lights. Turn right; go through the next set of traffic lights. Stay on this road (approx. 1⁄2 mile) straight on through the roundabout at Yacht Haven. Follow the brown signs along the road and then turn right in to the Mount Batten Centre. We are below the “tower”.  

Disabled parking: There are four disabled parking bays at the front of the main centre.           

Tinside Lido 

Address: Tinside Lido, Hoe Road, Plymouth PL1 3DE 

By Bus: The 25B bus takes a route from Royal Parade to Plymouth Hoe. 

Parking: There is a number of parking options available around Tinside Lido, including on-street and city centre car parks.
