Plymouth is home to some great foodie spots and the best news is, you don’t have to spend big bucks to enjoy top quality cooking!

So whether you’re a student on a budget, or just trying to save a few pennies, here are six places where you can enjoy a picture perfect meal out for less than a tenner - great for your wallet and great for the 'gram!

Tilt

Found on Ebrington Street, Tilt’s speciality is sliders and sides. Their menu features 16 different sliders – four beef, four chicken, four fish and four vegan – so there’s something to keep everyone happy and you can enjoy your choice of three sliders for just £7.50! They also sell Korean or American Buffalo style chicken wings for just £1 each, so if you have some spare change then why not add a couple to your order?

Jacka Bakery

The historic Jacka Bakery – the oldest working commercial bakery in the UK - is a great place to stop for a bite to eat on Plymouth’s Barbican. Step inside this cosy café to enjoy a toasty breakfast or lunch from just £2.75, or tuck into a homemade sourdough pizza for less than a tenner!

Cap’n Jaspers

A Plymouth institution, there’s nowhere quite like Cap’n Jaspers. Not only is it in a beautiful spot on the Barbican (the perfect background for those Insta shots), it’s the place to go for a slap-up dinner at a reasonable price! Indulge in the famous Half a Yard Hot Dog for just £4.95, or enjoy a quarter pounder burger – they come with all kinds of toppings and start at a very reasonable £2.70. Wash it down with a mug of tea for 70p!

Recent fillings have included roast chicken with jerk glaze, yam nutty butter, cabbage celery slaw and coriander mayo, or roasted beetroot with red onion and goats’ cheese.

B-Bar

Inside the Barbican Theatre you’ll find B-Bar, who specialise in freshly cooked Thai dishes. Their menu includes noodle boxes, stir-fries and curry dishes all available for less than £10, plus they sell a range of starters including chicken satay and prawn cakes for around £5 each.
