A weekend of celebration is set to take centre stage at the Royal William Yard on the first week of March.

On Saturday 2 March and Sunday 3 March, a wide array of events are taking place across the Royal William Yard, providing free friendly fun across the weekend.

RNLI 200 Anniversary

A celebration of the RNLI will take place on Sunday 3 March. The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) is commemorating its incredible 200th year and will showcase four lifeboats at the Royal William Yard Marina.

Visitors can watch live sea rescue demonstrations, board the lifeboats, and meet the crews. The Severn class all-weather lifeboat, the largest in the fleet, will be on display. The event will end with a procession of the flotilla, accompanied by a rescue helicopter, across the Hoe.

Be prepared for a party atmosphere with the shanty band Tavy Tars set to perform several songs from the sea.

Further entertainment can be found throughout the day with the RNLI-themed interactive trail as well as appearances from the RNLI fundraising team, RNLI shop, Water Safety Team, Coastguard Rescue Team, and Dartmoor Search and Rescue all in attendance.

Good Food and Craft Market

Also taking place on the day is the return of the ever-popular monthly Good Food and Craft Market. Situated at the Melville Building and its picturesque courtyard.

This month's market will be the final time until the winter months later this year that it will be held within the cosy walls of the Melville Building. Head to the Market and check out a vast array of local and hand-made goods as well as mouthwatering dishes from one of the several street trader stalls in the courtyard.

From April onwards the Market will be hosted on the Royal William Yard green.

Plymouth Comic and Zine Fair

Between 11am and 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday, the Plymouth Comic and Zine Fair is set to be hosted at Ocean Studios on the Royal William Yard. More than over 40 illustrators and comic makers will be exhibiting their wares which include comics, zines, ceramics, prints, alongside stickers, pins, totes and T-shirts.

Sandwiched between the days is a mid-fair party (including karaoke) from 6pm until 11pm.
