There’s something truly special about ending a sunny day in Plymouth by simply kicking back and watching the sun sink below the horizon.

The Hoe 

Undoubtedly one of the most iconic locations in Plymouth, The Hoe boasts uninterrupted panoramic views Plymouth Sound and the English Channel as the sunset. Watch as the sun casts its warm glow upon the stunning Smeaton's Tower, the sea and the distant silhouette of ships. The Hoe is the perfect place to enjoy a picnic and catch the last sun of the day. 

       

Bovisand Beach

Only a short drive from Plymouth is the simply stunning Bovisand Beach. Pack a beach mat and a blanket and watch as the sun dips down over Cornwall over Plymouth Sound. It's calm waters and peaceful location are perfect for a relaxing evening watching a gorgeous sunset. If you are feeling adventourous, Bovisand is already a great beach for paddleboarding!             

                

Jennycliff 

For a more rugged and unfiltered sunset encounter, head to Jennycliff. This elevated spot rewards visitors with dramatic cliffside views overlooking Plymouth Sound and The Barbican and can be reached by taking a short ferry hop from the Barbican Landning Stage. It's a large green space and an ideal spot for enjoying a picnic, walking your dog, or even playing a game of football. 

    

Mount Edgcumbe 

Cross the River Tamar via the Cremyll Ferry to find yourself at Mount Edgcumbe, a historic country park and stately home. With its gorgeous grounds and vantage points, this location provides a more secluded sunset experience with views ranging across Plymouth Sound, Drake's Island and Plymouth. 

    

Royal William Yard 

Indulge in a blend of maritime history and modern sophistication at the Royal William Yard. This historic naval victualling yard has been revitalized into a hub of restaurants, shops, and apartments. The Yard's quayside offers a chic setting to enjoy the sunset, why not treat yourself to an outdoor dining experience and visit The Hook and Line? 

            

Dartmoor National Park 

If you're seeking breathtaking sunset views that stretch far beyond Plymouth, make sure to head up to Dartmoor National Park. With its expansive landscapes and elevated vantage points, it offers the perfect setting to experience unrivaled views of the sun setting over Plymouth and the surrounding countryside.
