Plymouth Argyle launches ‘Christmas at Argyle’ campaign a series of community-focused events, aiming to bring people together this festive season.
The campaign is designed to create a lasting impact through a series of events and activities to support everyone in our community and bring people together this Christmas through football.
Christmas at Argyle includes:
Open Home Park – Thursday, 4 December
On Thursday, 4 December, Argyle will open our doors to anyone who may be experiencing loneliness or social isolation during the Christmas period. The club will extend the warmth, comfort, and sense of belonging found at The Theatre of Greens to everyone in our community.
A host of familiar faces and club staff will have warm drinks, hot pasties, mince pies and biscuits, alongside quizzes, tabletop games and Christmas cheer for visitors to help combat the harmful impacts of social isolation over Christmas.
Everyone is welcome to join us in The View from 5pm to 6.15pm, no booking required. Guests are then invited and encouraged to attend the Christmas Carol Concert that takes place immediately after.

Christmas Carol Concert – Thursday, 4 December
Our popular annual Christmas Carol service returns, taking place on Thursday, 4 December.
Our Club Chaplain, Arthur Goode, will lead a service including readings from a wide range of Club representatives. Meanwhile, carols will be accompanied by the Plymouth City Brass Academy Band and choirs from several local schools: Bickleigh Down Primary School, Laira Green Primary School, Manadon Vale Primary School, Mayflower Community Academy, Stoke Damerel Primary School and Widey Court Primary School.
Pilgrim Pete and Father Christmas will be making special appearances throughout the festivities, while refreshments (including luxury hot chocolate), mince pies, Christmas pasties and more will be available to purchase from food kiosks.
Admission to the carol concert is free and we will be holding a bucket collection for Project 35, welcoming any donations towards our community social impact project in partnership with Ginsters.
We will be providing British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation at our Christmas Carol event. If you require any access or additional support for this event, please contact supporters@pafc.co.uk.
Thank you to the 50/50 Lottery for supporting this event.
Christmas Toy Wrapping for Children’s Wishes
This year, Children’s Wishes Plymouth will be wrapping almost 700 presents for Children in Club Argyle.
Children’s Wishes is an amazing charity set up by five businesspeople in the Plymouth community who support other charities and schools in the region with families who are impacted by poverty, illness or addiction.

Project 35 Takeover – Argyle vs Rotherham United – Saturday, 13 December
Argyle’s Sky Bet League One match against Rotherham United has been selected as our next dedicated takeover game of the 2025/26 season for Project 35, our award-winning social impact project in partnership with Ginsters.
If you are able, we are asking for donations of in-date, non-perishable food, and hygiene products to support those most vulnerable in our communities through our Manadon Food Larder, and the wider food bank network.
We will be collecting items before the game from the Babcock Devonport End, where our food van and Project 35 gazebo will be located from midday until kick-off.
This takeover is particularly needed to support families in the New Year period. Food bank usage is high in January due to rising cost of living and increased hardship after the Christmas period.
Christmas Cracker Events – Tuesday, 16 December and Wednesday, 17 December
Our annual and popular Christmas Cracker will take place once again at Manadon Sports Hub.
The Christmas Cracker offers an opportunity for attendees to have a kickabout with the men’s first team on Tuesday, 16 December, with the women’s first team in attendance on Wednesday, 17 December. This will be followed by a meet-and-greet with the team, where young people can collect autographs, photos and chat to the players. Pilgrim Pete and Father Christmas will also be in attendance, and each person will receive a goody bag, a Christmas card and the chance to win lots of prizes.
The Christmas Cracker also marks the start of the Christmas Roadshow with courses available across Devon and Cornwall to the festive season. Open to children of all ages and abilities, activities are designed to engage young people by introducing and developing new skills and techniques in the enjoyment of football.
Christmas Roadshows run from Monday, 22 December until Friday, 2 January. Please see here for more details.
Free Christmas Lunch for Elderly and Vulnerable People
Argyle Community Trust will be providing a Christmas lunch and social activity to 60 of our more elderly and vulnerable people in the city.
This lunch will provide a warm space for those to meet and enjoy their meal. We have worked with community groups to identify and provide this lunch.
Holiday Activity and Food Programme
Argyle Community Trust is once again running Holiday Activity and Food programmes for eligible young people, aged 4 to 16. This provides participants the chance to learn new skills, meet others and get a nutritious meal over the Christmas holidays.
Sessions are being run across Devon and Cornwall. Please check your local council website for booking and eligibility.
Babcock Christmas Hamper Appeal
The Christmas period can be a challenging time of year for families facing food insecurity. Working alongside club partners and supporters, we are providing over 200 hampers to local families in need this Christmas.
Our hampers provide Christmas classics such as fruit, vegetables, and much more to ensure those most in need can enjoy this special time of year without worry.
We want to thank all those businesses who are once again supporting our Christmas Hamper appeal.
