   National Marine Aquarium

   Feed the Turtle at The Aquarium

   THIS UNIQUE EXPERIENCE ALLOWS YOU TO GET UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH OUR CHEEKY TURTLE! 

    

   Step into the shoes of the husbandry team at the National Marine Aquarium to experience what goes behind the feeding of our Green Sea Turtle, Friday! You’ll be immersed in our food preparation area, educated on our seagrass conservation work and how Turtles in the wild love seagrass! You’ll then feed our Turtle at the top of the Atlantic Ocean Tank, the deepest in the UK and located here in Plymouth!

   
   WHO IS THE EXPERIENCE FOR? 

   This experience is £140 for up to four people. All participants must be over 8+ years of age. Children 15 or under must be accompanied by an adult (18+) who will be responsible for them during the experience.  

   
   What’s included? 

   This exclusive experience includes; 

   • An introduction to our food preparation area and how we feed our 5000 animals.  
   • Preparation of Friday’s tasty lunch, participants 18+ are only permitted to use the knives. 
   • A overview of our seagrass work and the link to Turtle’s natural diet of seagrass in the wild. 
   • Animal introduction with our Supervisor in front of the Atlantic Ocean Tank. 
   • Explanation and populating of the ‘Feeding Record Sheet’ after weighing Friday’s food.  
   • A demonstration of the equipment we use to feed Friday and the importance of ‘operant conditioning’. 
   • 15 minutes feeding Friday!
