Mount Batten
Mount Batten Tower Open Day
One of Plymouth’s key historic landmarks, the 17th Century Mount Batten Tower will be open to the public as part of the Seafest weekend. Enjoy a free visit and learn more about the artillery fort that once protected the Plymouth Sound peninsula. There’s no need to book but take a look at important information about accessibility, restrictions, and travel details for Mount Batten Tower.
The tower is open from 10am to 3pm on Saturday 13 September only. Entry is free.
Plymouth Sound National Marine Park volunteers will kindly be supporting the Open Day.
J24s Racing Series
The 45th J/24 World Championship culminates on Sunday 14 September with J class sailors from around the world competing for the coveted title. Bought to the city by Plym Yacht Club, Saltash Sailing Club and the UK J/24 Class Association with support from Yacht Havens Group and the Port of Plymouth Sailing Association, the fleet will look spectacular in the Sound between 6th and 14th September. Spectators can get close to the action with special sailing trips on board The Island Trust’s Johanna Lucretia during the championship but booking in advance is essential.
Mount Batten Watersports
Due to forecasted weather conditions all on the water sessions (sailing, stand up paddleboarding and kayaking) at Mount Batten Watersports and Activities Centre have unfortunately been cancelled. Customers who have made bookings will be contacted by Mount Batten Centre to arrange a refund.

Seafest at Mount Edgcumbe promises a packed weekend of history, heritage, and hands-on activities across the whole weekend.
Mount Edgcumbe House Tours
Find out about Mount Edgcumbe’s fascinating past with the history tours, taking visitors around the grounds of the estate. House tours are free for all but booking is required. Tours take place on Sunday 14 September at 11.30am/12.30pm/3pm/4pm. Book your place.
Walking Tours
Discover stories of explorers like Captain Cook and Charles Darwin, the historic role of Barn Pool, and the legacy of Plymouth as a gateway to global voyages.

Twilight Bat Walk (Sold out)
Walk around the stunning ground of Mount Edgcumbe from 7pm-9pm on Saturday 13 September.. Accompanied by a guest expert and thermal imaging technology, check out the bats that call the grounds of the estate their home.
Visitors at Barbican and RWY to be encouraged to use the ferry to get to Mount Edgcumbe. Ferries will be 50% off.
