This Sunday (7 July) is World Chocolate Day and it would be rude not to celebrate! There’s plenty of cafes and eateries in Plymouth where you can get your chocolate fix and we’re sharing five of the best that chocoholics need to check out.

Chocaccino

Dedicated to chocolate, this café is a dream come true for any cocoa bean connoisseur. Indulge in rich hot chocolates topped with cream, buy a selection of their hand made chocolates or dive into a chocolate cream tea.

Kawaffle

One of the new kids on the block, you’ll find Kawaffle in Plymouth Market, selling a scrumptious range of bubble and lolly waffles with toppings. Go for the Choc-a-Bloc which features Nutella, Kinder chocolate, chunky chocolate ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate sauce – and a Twirl on top!

The Flower Café

Along Southside Street on Plymouth Barbican is the fabulously flamboyant Flower Café. Known for their popular themed hot chocolates (unicorns or dinosaurs anyone?), they are also serving up delicious milkshakes and ice creams in this hot weather so you can indulge in a refreshing treat.

Café Thorntons

In the city centre you’ll find Café Thorntons, selling delicious chocolatey treats created by the much-loved high street store. Order a hot drink and enjoy some individual chocolates on the side, or go for a seriously indulgent ice cream sundae.

Valenti’s Gelato Venue

Based on the Barbican, Valenti’s serve up delicious desserts and incredible artisan ice creams and sorbets, so it’s a good place to head for your chocolate fix during the glorious summer weather. There’s a great range of chocolate based flavours to choose from, with favourites including Bueno, triple chocolate and mint choc chip.
