What’s your favourite way to eat fish? Whether you’re a fan of crispy battered fillets served with salt and vinegar topped chips, a lover of delicately rolled sushi or simply a seafood fanatic, Britain’s Ocean City will have what you’re looking for.

Plymouuth is home to one the largest fish markets in the country and with the ocean right on our doorstep, you can look forward to tucking in to some of the freshest and most delicious fish and seafood available.

Here are ten of the best restaurants in Plymouth to enjoy the fruits of the sea.

The Boathouse Café

You can’t get much closer to the water than this! The Boathouse Cafe is tucked in the fisherman’s arches near the Mayflower Steps, choose from their classic menu or the new Scallop Shack menu, which offers locally-caught scallops (from their own boat) that have been lovingly shucked, prepared and cooked to order by their expert chefs.

Hook and Line

Perched beside the sea at Royal William Yard, The Hook and Line serves up the freshest seafood delights bound to impress. Tuck into fish tacos, pan-fried scallops, lobster and so much more at the seafood restaurant. Accompany your meal with a pint of the Hook & Line’s very own, signature ale, the Hook, Line & Sinker.

Jolly Jacks

Pop down to Jolly Jacks by the waterfront for a superb seafood meal. The dog-friendly restaurant has cracking views across the water to the Royal William Yard and boasts freshly caught seafood dishes including Seafood Chowder, Crab Linguine, Steamed Cornish Mussels and more.

Rockfish

Rockfish Plymouth restaurant has beautiful harbour views and serves up delicious fresh fish dishes, including traditional fish and chips, prawn tacos and Jersey Rock oysters. Situated next door to the National Marine Aquarium, they also offer a local fish menu, which changes daily depending on the catch of the day.

The whole family will be happy to eat at The Harbour, with a kids’ menu and veggie and vegan options alongside plenty of delicious fish dishes – with unique options including seafood tacos, tuna steak and a scallop burger. Kuku

Set in a Grade II listed building, just seconds away from the bustle of Plymouth’s city centre, Kuku serves up contemporary Japanese cuisine and is a great place to enjoy fresh fish and seafood in a different way. Grab a seat at the sushi bar and watch the chefs craft elegant and refined foodie masterpieces before your eyes. Share a platter of sushi, or indulge in a fish dish from the robata grill.

Supha's Street Food Emporium

Embrace the bold flavours of street food from Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Malaysia at Supha's Street Food Emporium on The Barbican. Specialising in seafood delights including whole steamed fish, mussels, prawns and crab, the street food favourites bring the big flavours of Asia accompanied by stunning waterfront views.

Pier Master's House

Serving up seafood dishes by the water at The Barbican, Piermasters House has an extensive fish menu. With bouillabaisse, beer-battered fish and chips, luxury fish pie and more on the menu, it's a great venue to grab a taste of the sea.
