Join us for a celebratory weekend at Plymouth Guildhall to mark the King’s Coronation, thanks to funding from the DCMS and UK Government.

Where and when is it taking place?

The event takes place at Plymouth Guildhall on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 May.

The festivities will start at 10am on Saturday with the Lord Mayor's speech, followed by live music, entertainment, charity stalls, with a street party atmoshpere.

Sunday 7 May will kick off at 2pm with live music leading up to the Coronation concert screening.

   

What to see and do

Watch the live stream on the big screen

You can enjoy the live stream of the Coronation ceremony on the big screen on Saturday 6 May, followed by live music. On Sunday 7 May, the Coronation Concert will be live streemed from Windsor Castle, featuring performances from Take That, Lionel Richie, Freya Ridings, Katy Perry, a 74 piece world-class classical orchestra and 300 strong Coronation Choir.

Performances and live music

On Saturday, there will be a wide variety of performances, including Cooperative Big Band, Rhythm City, Natasha’s Bollywood Dance School, Italia Conti, and the Groovement Project. You'll also hear performances from Kendall Williams, Blokes Who Sing and GraceNotes Acapella. Little ones can also print their very own crown, have their face painted in the main foyer, and listen to some Tiny Tales from the Theatre Royal Plymouth's storytelling team in the lower hall.

On Sunday, live music will lead up to the Coronation Concert Live Stream, with Rue kicking things off at 2pm, followed by Black Friday, Jamie Yost, and The Busketeers.

Eat and drink in the 'Street Party' zone

At Plymouth Guildhall, a large table and chairs will be set up for all to gather and enjoy sharing food and conversation at the Coronation 'Big Lunch'. People are encouraged to bring their own picnic to the 'street party' inspired setting. 

Enjoy street entertainers

Throughout Saturday 6 May, there will be plenty of entertainment, including stilt walkers, acapella groups, as well as roaming entertainers Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts and the Bubble Queen.

Explore charity stalls

As part of the Cornation legacy, a variety of charity stalls will attend the event on Saturday to provide information on how people can get involved with volunteering in their community. Look out for Plymouth Sound National Marine Park, Clean Our Patch, Devon Freewheelers, British Red Cross, YMCA Plymouth, Plymouth Good Neighbours, Tamar Valley MS Society, Food Plymouth and Plymouth Triathlon Club.

     

Food and drink

We recommend bringing lunch with you, or buying takeaway from local food outlets in the area. There will be a 'street party' inspired zone with tables and chairs for you to sit and enjoy!

How to get to the event 

If you're travelling by car, there are several car parks in the vicinity, including Western Approach, Theatre Royal Plymouth and Plymouth Guildhall car parks.

If you’re travelling from afar, GWR trains are a great option.

If you’re travelling within Plymouth and plan to arrive by bus, you can plan your route with Citybus.

   

Accessibility information

There is an accessible entrance to Plymouth Guildhall on the corner with a ramp.

There is a lift in the venue to reach the Great Hall, just beyond the accessible entrance inside.

There are accessible toilets in the foyer, first floor and lower hall.

There are three Blue Badge parking spaces within the Guildhall car park.

    Is Civic Car park open at 09.00 that day - 6th May!
