Each week this summer we are bringing unique opportunities to win big, exclusive experiences in Plymouth beginning with a mouthwatering gin adventure courtesy of Plymouth Gin Distillery.

Plymouth's world famous gin:

Situated in the beating heart of The Barbican, Plymouth Gin Distillery has expertly manufactured its renowned spirit according to its original recipe since 1793.

The distillery, which is the oldest of its kind in England, is also referred to as Black Friars Distillery and has been an ever-present in the historic port area of Plymouth with its stunning Refectory, topped with a fine hull-shaped timber roof, dating back to the 1400s.

The award-winning spirit is a must-try for any gin lover, with a variety of concoctions available to try in the cocktail lounge, where legend has it the Pilgrims drank for one last time before setting sail to the New World from the nearby Mayflower Steps.

Plymouth Gin Distillery Tour

The prize:

The lucky winner of our first weekly summer competition can claim a Master Distillery Tour for two people at the home of the historic gin.

The tour includes a talk about the rich history of the Distillery, the distillation process and the botanicals that are used. There is an in-depth tasting session exploring the journey of gin throughout history.

The master class presents a unique opportunity for guests to distil their own gin by selecting botanicals in order to create their own style of drink that is as complex and distinctive as Plymouth Gin.

Every guest is given a small bottle of their own handmade gin to take away as a unique memento of their experience.

At the end of the experience guests can choose between a complimentary miniature of Plymouth Gin to take home or enjoy a Plymouth Gin and Tonic at the Refectory Bar.

I was first introduced to Plymouth Gin by my grandmother who soaked a small piece of cotton wool in Plymouth Gin to take away toothache pain … it worked!
Years later it’s my gin of choice which brings back fond childhood memories, not of toothache but of my grandmothe.
    Best Gin ever!
