As the weather begins to cool down, it’s the perfect excuse to warm up with a good cup of coffee. Plymouth has plenty of great spots to choose from, offering everything from a quick caffeine fix to a relaxed catch-up with friends.

Sato by Minera 

Now settled in Alma Yard, Sato by Minerva brings all the charm of the original Minerva Cafe to a fresh new location. They’re serving up expertly crafted coffees and refreshing smoothies, with a variety of syrups and alternative milks to suit every taste. Their new food menu is not to be missed - full of flavour and perfect for a brunch catch-up with friends. Don’t forget to try their house coffee from Roundhill Roastery, it’s rich, smooth, and utterly delicious!

BLOCK Café

Situated in the heart of Royal William Yard, Block Cafe offers a bright and relaxed atmosphere that’s perfect for catching up with friends or getting some work done. They serve up fantastic locally roasted coffee and a range of freshly smoothies. They are also dog-friendly too! 

Cozy Grain

True to its name, Cozy Grain is all about comfort and warmth. Nestled along the Barbican, this independent café focuses on wholesome, locally sourced ingredients and great coffee. Their menu caters to everyone, with plenty of options for seasonal coffee such as pumpkin spcied lattes and chai spiced lattes. They also do delciious matcha whcih is avaliable in a variety of flavours! 

The Mad Merchant Coffee House

Tucked away on Plymouth’s New Street, The Mad Merchant Coffee House is full of charm and character. Housed in a 16th-century merchant’s house, it’s perfect for enjoying expertly crafted coffees, superfood lattes, and freshly prepared breakfasts and lunches. With cosy corners inside and a lovely garden outside, it’s a welcoming spot to relax and soak up the atmosphere.

The Terrace Cafe

Situated on Plymouth’s waterfront with stunning views of the Plymouth Sound is The Terrace Cafe. If you are after a brew with a view then this is the place for you, you can enjoy a great cup of coffee whilst watching the boats coming and going across The Sound. It’s the perfect way to spend a few hours!

Rockets and Rascals

Situated on The Barbican, Rockets & Rascals have been proudly serving coffee, brunch and lunch for over 10 years. They opened up 11 years ago with a reputation for serving great flat whites and have not looked back since! Today, they work with Origin Coffee Roasters and La Marzaocco to serve up some of the greatest coffee in Plymouth.

Signature Strawberries

Situated on Sutton Harbour, Signature Strawberries offers instagram worthy coffees and other drinks. Think flavoured matchas, delicious flavoured iced lattes and so much more. The autumn flavours include a brown sugar cinnamon iced oat latte and a salted maple matcha. Make sure to try them before they are gone! 

The Hutong Bagel Co

Located just outside of the Royal William Yard, Hutong Bagel is the perfect spot to grab a morning coffee before heading on a scenic stroll to Firestone Bay. They offer a great selection of coffees with a guest coffee often featured. The bagels themselves are absolutely delicious and well worth a try! 

Rise and Grind

Just like the name says, Rise and Grind is the perfect place for your early-morning coffee. Their specialty coffee has been locally roasted by the Devon Coffee Company and is definitely worth a try, especially with one of their delicious options for brunch. The French toast is highly recommended!

Ground Coffee

The perfect place to people watch, Ground Coffee can be found The Barbican. The quirky coffee stand offers great coffee and delicious fresh donughts, it’s a great place to stop on your exploration of The Barbican for a rest before heading up for a walk along the waterfront.

The Dock

With floor-to-ceiling windows, The Dock is the ultimate spot to bask in the British sun. Outstanding food, delightful coffee, and a relaxed atmosphere come together to create the perfect setting for enjoying a great brew while watching the world go by.

The Flower Café

Nestled on Southside Street in the historic Barbican area, The Flower Café is a haven adorned with floral decorations. Known for its inventive hot drinks and delicious cakes, patrons can enjoy everything from unicorn hot chocolates to cupcake decorating classes.

Rhubarb & Mustard

 Rhubarb & Mustard is a contemporary café known for its excellent coffee and hot sandwhiches. They offer coffee for both sit in and take away, whilst you are there make sure to try one of their cakes! 

Tudor Rose Tearooms

While famous for its traditional English teas, Tudor Rose Tearooms also takes coffee seriously. They serve freshly brewed filter coffee and classic espresso drinks, providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere for anyone looking to enjoy a quality cup.
