How to watch
There’s a number of ways to watch the Great Britain Sail Grand Prix in Plymouth. You can choose premium paid-for ticketed options on shore and on the water, watch from your own boat or soak up the atmosphere and enjoy for free at various points along Plymouth’s waterfront.
This year you can also choose to enjoy a behind the scenes tour of the SailGP Team Bases, seeing the cutting edge, wing-sailed boats up close.
Waterfront tickets
Waterfront Access
Plymouth Hoe provides a spectacular viewpoint in which to immerse yourself in all the adrenaline-fuelled action, as the foiling catamarans race right before your eyes within the natural amphitheater of Plymouth Sound.
Access to the official spectator area includes live race commentary, the chance to visit the official merchandise shop, a selection of refreshment stands, and a view of the main stage which will feature regular athlete appearances.
Waterfront Premium
Waterfront Premium is an exclusive section of the official spectator area. Here you can enjoy three complimentary beverages from one of the event partners, select from a variety of premium dining options, relax on comfy seating and have access to luxury toilets.
You’ll also be able to hear live race commentary while you watch the action-packed racing on big screens. With fantastic views across Plymouth Sound, you can rest assured there is no better location on land from which to watch the racing.
On-Water Viewing
SailGP has partnered with Plymouth Boat Trips to provide the official On-Water fan experience for the Great Britain Sail Grand Prix.
Official spectator boats will offer the closest vantage point to the racing and allow fans an unrivaled view of the world-class athletes and supercharged F50 catamarans as they compete at electrifying speeds across Plymouth Sound. Departing from Commercial Wharf, tickets offer a three-hour experience with great views of the race course, a selection of canapes and access to a premium bar. Watch for free
With all the action taking place in Plymouth Sound, a natural amphitheatre, there’s plenty of spots around the waterfront where you can soak up the action for free.
Plymouth Hoe is a great place to watch, with Madeira Road and Hoe Road closed during the event to ensure everyone can watch safely.
You’ll also be able to see the action from Jennycliff and Mount Batten Pier, but please be mindful that these areas are likely to be very busy.
