 On Tuesday 14th February Plymouth’s National Marine Aquarium will be hosting its first ever Valentine’s evening event, with a special dinner in front of the stunning Atlantic Ocean exhibition. Guests will sit back, relax and take in the serene sights of the UK’s largest tank, home to a vast array marine life including lemon sharks, sandtiger sharks, nurse sharks, and the only whitespotted eagle rays in Europe. Prices are £45 per person which includes a glass of champagne on arrival and a delicious three-course set menu. With limited places and the earlier guests book the closer to the tank they are! 

A romantic afternoon tea or candlelit dinner at Boringdon Hall

 There are few places in Plymouth that evoke as much romanticism and ambiance as the 16th century building of Boringdon. Already a firm favourite with couples planning their nuptials from across Devon, Cornwall and further afield, Boringdon has lots to attract those seeking a special place to celebrate Valentine’s! On selected dates between Friday 10th and Saturday 18th February the hotel is offering a lavish a la carte menu served over candlelight in the Gallery Restaurant, created lovingly by Head Chef Scott Paton. Guests will experience a night of delectable fine dining featuring locally sourced, fresh seasonal produce. After your candle-lit dinner the hotel’s impressive Great Hall Bar is the perfect place to enjoy a digestive. Alternatively Boringdon Hall is offering a Valentine's themed afternoon tea spoiling couples with a medley of naughty-but-nice British delights for the whole of February from just £21 per person. 

Champagne and wine tasting at Le Vignoble 

       On Valentine’s Day Plymouth’s popular wine lounge and merchant, Le Vignoble, located in the historic Royal William Yard marina is  hosting a romantic Champagne and sparkling wine tasting evening. Guests will try six different types of fizz coupled with indulgent tapas while receiving an education on the tasting of sparkling wines. Booking essential as spaces are limited. £45 per person. 

Fantastic value three-course Valentine’s menu at the Duke of Cornwall hotel

  Love is in the air with the Duke of Cornwall’s three-course Valentine’s Day menu with dishes including scallops, sirloin steak and a white chocolate parfait for just £35.00 per person. The Valentine’s Day dinner will be served in the hotel’s AA Rosette awarded restaurant with its Victorian era design and central chandelier for an excellent value romantic option.

Romantic Valentines break at Bovey Castle

  Celebrate Valentine’s in style with a romantic break at the 19th century Bovey Castle in the heart of Dartmoor National Park with its vast array of activities and wonderful choice of dining options, from afternoon tea on the South Terrace to a private dinner in the secluded Summerhouse. This cosy break includes a two night stay with breakfast each morning, a bottle of Champagne and a red rose in the room on arrival, a couples 25 minute spa treatment, a six course Valentine’s menu in the Great Western Restaurant on one evening and dinner in Smith’s Brasserie the next evening. From £770 based on two people sharing.

South West Falcon launches Falcon ‘love story’ competition 

To mark its first anniversary, South West Falcon, the South West’s only 24/7 cross regional coach service, is launching a Valentine’s Day competition. The coach service will be offering prizes along the route including tickets to Craig David’s ‘Follow My Intuition’ tour at the Plymouth Pavilions Arena, tickets to see the Wedding Singer at Bristol Hippodrome and a £100 Princesshay shopping centre gift card in Exeter and lunch for two at The Terrace. To enter, entrants must submit the story of how they met their partners and prizes will be awarded to couples with the best love story.
