Summer is well and truly on its way, and with the forecast set to be sunny this weekend it’s the perfect opportunity to get out and about and enjoy some summer fun. Here’s our top five for this week to help you make the most of your weekend.

Take a walk along the waterfront

With the waterfront walkway stretching from the Barbican and Sutton Harbour across to the Hoe and Royal William Yard, enjoy the sunshine with a walk next to the water. We recommend an ice cream as a must have for the ultimate sunny day walk experience.

Get ready for Father’s Day

With Father’s Day just a week away make sure you’re ready to spoil Dad by doing a spot of shopping. Our latest Shop4Plymouth blog has plenty of ideas of places to pick up the perfect gift. Head to Drake Circus and the City Centre for big name brands, or pop to the West End, Barbican or Royal William Yard for some unique independent gifts.

Have a laugh

This June a group of Plymouth based comedians are launching the city’s first event comedy walking tour. Three award-winning comedians will act as tour guides, taking groups of locals and tourists around the city, telling more jokes than facts. The tour is essentially a comedy show on the move, so get ready to giggle, explore and smash your 5,000 steps.

Cheer on England!

Sunday sees England’s first game in the European Championships as they take on Croatia. Book your ticket and head to watch the game at Plymouth Argyle, or grab (five of) your mates and head to one of the many pubs that will be showing the action.

Plymouth Argyle’s outdoor cinema programme started this week and will show a variety of movies throughout the summer alongside the Euro fixtures.
