Stuck for things to do this summer with the family? We have put together a list of fun family activities suitable for all ages and budgets – plenty of opportunities to soak up the glorious sunshine whilst keeping the kids entertained!

  

Tinside Lido

Take a dip at the beautiful Tinside Lido. The art-deco style outdoor pool is situated on Plymouth Hoe, making it the perfect spot for the adults to sunbathe whilst the kids make a splash! Book your slots online to avoid disappointment.

  

Moor Otter Arts Trail

Become an otter spotter and hunt down the 81 otter statues painted by local artists. You can pick up an Otter Spotter passport from Tourist Information Centre to check them off. There are 4 different otter trails running throughout the summer holidays so plenty of opportunities to explore Devon with the family whilst entering the competitions and snapping selfies!

  

West Hoe Fun Park

With a mini railway, crazy golf and a bouncy castle – there is lots on offer to put a smile on their faces at this children’s play park located on the Hoe. There is also plenty of sunny and shaded spaces perfect for picnics!

   

Mayflower 400 Harbour Cruise

See the sights from the water and get on board with Plymouth Boat trips. Perhaps try the 1 hour harbour cruise which takes you accross Plymouth Sound showcasing our beautiful coastline and is accompanied with an interesting commentary. This trip will give you an overview of Plymouth's history, sights and attractions on offer, making it a great activity to enjoy with all the family.

   

Cycling the Plym Valley Trail

Grab your bikes and cycle at the Plym Valley trail at Plymbridge woods! This traffic-free cycle path is surrounded by stunning scenery and takes you to the spectacular Dartmoor National Park. Don't worry if you have left your bikes at home as there is cycle hire available at the Coypool carpark at the start of the route.

   

Pennywell Farm

Visit the multi-awarding winning farm activity centre Pennywell farm. You will be spoilt for choice with the wide range of fun activities on offer, from bottle-feeding the lambs to holding a chick there is plenty to keep the whole family entertained. With indoor and outdoor areas this attraction is perfect rain or shine. 

Plymouth is easily accessible by train with a wide range of services running from a variety of locations within England. Although some services may require a change or two.

Travelling from London takes around 3 hours with Great Western Railway, if you're coming from the north, the trip from Manchester can take 5 hours 15 minutes.
