This week’s Friday Five is all about entertaining excited little ones in the countdown to Christmas – but also plenty for the adults too!


Be entertained at the Christmas Market

On Saturday from 11am you’ll find lots of free Christmas entertainment taking place at the Christmas market on the Piazza in the city centre, including Santa, the Christmas Quackers, Christmas Elves and the Goodometer who will be roaming the market, plus look out for the Curiosity Christmas Tree – a cross between a giant marble run and a magical clockwork toy.

And for the adults - if you love a bit of live music, then also on Piazza, The Lost Sound - Dartmoor Folk Choir will be performing on Saturday from 1pm and on Sunday the Real Steel Band will be playing their calypso-style music between 1pm to 1.45pm. Do a family friendly trail

Do you have a Christmas party this weekend? If so, a refreshing walk or cycle is the perfect remedy for the morning after! The ‘12 Displays of Christmas’ trail is a great way to get the whole family out in the fresh air for a walk or cycle across our stunning Waterfront, whilst seeking out the 12 winter wonderland LED displays, located in the Christmas windows of shops, cafes and restaurants.

If you start to feel a bit peckish, take a well-deserved break and enjoy some festive treats from one of the many restaurant on route. Go on a Santa Cruise

Why not join Santa this weekend and take to the high seas for Santa's Christmas Party Cruise, with Plymouth Boat Trips, for a fun and festive cruise for the whole family to enjoy. Visit Saltram House

If you fancy something more traditional book your tickets to visit Saltram House, where the much loved Christmas story of The Nutcracker will be brought to life. Head to a Christmas Fayre

If you are looking for some more Christmas gift inspiration this weekend, visit the Mount Edgcumbe Christmas Fayre. You’ll find food, gifts and crafts to buy and lots of entertainment to enjoy in the beautiful setting of Mount Edgcumbe. Tickets will be available on the door, no pre-booking required. Plymouth is easily accessible by train with a wide range of services running from a variety of locations within England. Although some services may require a change or two.

Travelling from London takes around 3 hours with Great Western Railway, if you're coming from the north, the trip from Manchester can take 5 hours 15 minutes.
