Nestled alongside the famous Mayflower Steps, the Boathouse Café is a charming eatery that boasts a serene waterfront location. You can grab a drink and relax in their perfect sun spot by the calm waters of The Barbican, while you watch the sailboats go by.The location is perfect for those who appreciate the beauty of the sea, as the cafe's waterfront seating area offers breathtaking views of the harbour and beyond.  

The Terrace Café

Newly refurbished, The Terrace Café boasts some of the best views in the city to grab a drink. Take a stroll from The Barbican along Hoe Road and you'll find the cafe, perched on the side of the cliff close to Tinside Lido.

A warm welcome is guaranteed, it's a cafe popular with swimmers who regularly swim out to the pontoons in Plymouth Sound below. 

              

Jolly Jacks

Further round the waterfront is Jolly Jacks Bar and Bistro. Right opposite the Royal William Yard, the bar has a quaint outdoor area with views across the Mayflower Marina and beyond, furthermore, it is also dog-friendly! 

                    

Pier One 

Head to Pier One on The Hoe for their unique blend of coffee that has been blended alongside Devon Coffee Company.

With outdoor and indoor seating, both boasting sensational views of Plymouth Sound, you could easily spend a fantastic afternoon in the sun here. 

                 

Armado Lounge 

Overlooking Sutton Harbour near The Barbican, the Armado Lounge offers a vast array of indoor seating and outdoor seating on the cobbles.

The cafe is a great spot to visit for a brew. Take a seat and watch the hustle and bustle of The Barbican life go by. 

              

The Dock 

Offering balcony views out to Drake's Island across the boats, The Dock, is at the heart of Plymouth’s Coastal Quarter and is a great venue for a morning coffee, a port of call here is definitely worth your time.

                     

Coffee and Donuts 

Based on the cobbled streets of The Barbican, locations don't get more iconic than the cute surroundings of Coffee and Donuts. Branded in classic red and white colours, the little shack is a great venue for a catch-up, a hot brew and a lovely view across the water.

                

Cap'n Jaspers

Cap'n Jaspers and iconic venues in Plymouth go hand in hand. The takeaway and coffee outlet has been a mainstay on The Barbican for centuries and is a favourite among locals.

Stop by for a brew and gaze over Sutton Harbour. If you're feeling peckish there are food options aplenty with stunning breakfast baps, half a yard of hot dog and the infamous Jasperizer burger. 

                     

Dutton's Café 

Primely located on Cliff Road, the main route from The Barbican to The Hoe, Dutton's Café is a prime spot to chill out and look across the water. If you're after a coffee, a cream tea, or even a light lunch, a stop in Dutton's large garden seating area is well worth a visit.
