If you know your Mojitos from your Martini’s and your Caipirinha's from your Cosmopolitans, you’ll want to know some of the best places to enjoy a perfectly mixed cocktail in Plymouth. Here’s ten of our favourites!

But that’s just the beginning, there are so many more incredible places to enjoy a drink in Plymouth. Discover even more!

The Refectory at Plymouth Gin

Plymouth Gin Distillery has been the working home of Plymouth Gin since 1793, making it one of the city’s most atmospheric places for a drink. The Refectory Bar, once a medieval hall where some of the Mayflower Pilgrims are said to have stayed, is now an intimate space for expertly crafted gin cocktails made with Plymouth Gin at the source. If you’d like to experience the full history of Plymouth Gin, make sure to experience a gin tour!

The Treasury

Set in a grand former 19th century treasury building, The Treasury pairs historic architecture with a lively late-night atmosphere. The bar serves an extensive cocktail list, with more than 35 options plus bespoke creations, alongside an impressive back bar of over 150 gins and upbeat DJ sets at weekends. Although not a cocktail, they also serve the popular Hawkstone Cider on tap!

Bonne Santé

Overlooking Sutton Harbour, Bonne Santé is an independent bar and restaurant on the historic Barbican that puts a lighter twist on indulgence. Expect classics such as an Old Fashioned or Piña Colada alongside inventive serves like a butterfly gin tea or hibiscus margarita, made with 100% pure juices and high-quality ingredients. They also do great deals on cocktails, making it the perfect spot to catch up with friends or a loved one.

Tigermilk

Tucked away in the city centre, Tigermilk is a laid-back hideaway with a speakeasy feel. Inside you’ll find low lighting, cosy corners and a long list of carefully balanced cocktails, ideal for date nights or lingering drinks with friends. We highly recommend the Mai Tai!

The Bottling Plant

Just off the cobbles of Southside Street, you’ll find The Bottling Plant, a characterful bar and restaurant in a beautifully restored historic building. The bar offers a broad choice of cocktails and mocktails, from rum and gin favourites to house specials, served in relaxed, elegant surroundings. It’s a great place to stop in after exploring everything the Barbican has to offer.

Barbican Botanics Gin Room

Nestled on the Barbican’s historic Southside Street, Barbican Botanics Gin Room is a must-visit for any gin lover. This charming, rustic hideaway celebrates small-batch gins from across the Southwest and beyond, with an ever-changing selection of artisan bottles waiting to be discovered. Whilst not technically just cocktails, this is not worth missing out on!

Custom House Cellar Bar

Custom House Cellar Bar is tucked below the historic Custom House, offering a cosy, intimate setting perfect for a cocktail or two. With warm lighting and a relaxed atmosphere, it’s an ideal spot for a quiet drink away from the bustle of the Barbican. In the warmer months, they also have outdoor seating which is perfect for soaking the sun and watching the world go by.

Olive and Twist

Olive & Twist brings a day-to-night experience to Plymouth’s city centre. By day it’s a cosy café serving breakfast, brunch and coffee, but by evening it transforms into a stylish cocktail bar with live music, sharing plates and expertly crafted drinks. It’s a great choice whether you’re starting your night or settling in for a lively evening.

Ocean View at the Dome

Ocean View at The Dome sits proudly on Plymouth’s iconic waterfront, offering spectacular panoramic sea views to go with your drink. Inside, you’ll find an opulent Art Deco-inspired interior and a tempting cocktail list, from classics like a Mojito or Aperol Spritz to house specials such as a Drake’s Island Iced Tea. It’s a stunning spot to sip a cocktail as the sun sets over Plymouth Sound.

Twist Board Game Cafe Bar

Twist Board Game Cafe Bar offers a fun and slightly different cocktail experience in the city centre. Alongside a menu packed with classics like Mojitos, Negronis and Passion Fruit Martinis, you’ll find over 600 board games to enjoy. It’s a social, laid-back venue perfect for groups, date nights or something a bit more interactive.
