Divertimento String Quartet presents a programme of contrasting music from the late Romantic and twentieth-century repertoire. Arnold Bax's String Quartet No. 1 opens the concert with lyrical richness and dramatic intensity, followed by Shostakovich's evocative Two Pieces for String Quartet. The programme concludes with Max Bruch's rarely heard String Quartet No. 2, a work full of warmth, expressive melodies and Romantic charm. Together, these works offer an engaging journey through some of the finest music written for string quartet.
