About us

25th June 2022 – day workshop 9.30 – 4.30 ( 5-6 hours – with break)

During this workshop you will delve into the world of natural colour and how we can create an
array of colour from our surroundings.

Spend the afternoon immersed in the power of natural colour with artist, dyer and grower, Ffion
Taverner.

We will explore the hidden qualities of natural ingredients, from homegrown flowers
to traditional dye ingredients to create an experimental spectrum of colour on natural fabrics.

This workshop will be more in depth focussing on what kind of materials we can use for dyeing,
how we can prepare fabrics using traditional mordants and extending our colour range with
natural modifiers.

We will learn how to create dye baths and more experimental methods of
transferring colour on to cloth; using the bundle dyeing technique.

This is using a steaming
method to extract colour and texture onto fabric.
This playful but more engaging session will begin to unfurl your curiosities when it comes to You
will leave with a ray of swatches filled with colour and texture as well as a larger hemmed piece
of fabric.
