About us
Join our Print in Action event at Ocean Studios on Saturday, 24th February 2024, for a day of creative discovery, discussions, demonstrations, and a display of local artists' work.
Get ready for a day of exploring how merging artistic and printmaking processes with technology and sciences makes for more profound and exciting outcomes.
Immerse yourself in various crafts and processes, from screen printing and letterpress to mental health and well-being and digital technologies in traditional printmaking.
Among the speakers will be Ethan Pennell, an acknowledged expert on Dartmoor folklore, painter, storyteller, and illustrator.
Real Art Make Print (RAMP) has organised the day as part of the Print in Action programme to explore the arts, printmaking and crafts and their impact on individuals and communities.
Wrapping up the day will be a panel discussion featuring Victoria Pomeroy, CEO of The Box; Prof. Stephen Felmingham, artist and educator, Arts University Plymouth; Prof. Chris Bennewith, Executive Dean, University of Plymouth; Prof. Carinna Parraman, Director of the Centre for Print Research, UWE, and James Mackenzie-Blackman, CEO of the Theatre Royal, Plymouth.
They will discuss ideas around developing creative places, the urban-rural divide, diversity and inclusiveness, and the long-term sustainable role of the maker. Audience members will be invited to ask questions.
RAMP is a Real Ideas platform designed to support artistic journeys at Ocean Studios. Its mission is to provide accessible studios, cultivate meaningful networks, offer unwavering support, facilitate continuous learning, and provide state-of-the-art facilities to help people unlock their creative potential.
