Roll up, roll up; Plymouth’s renowned Weekend of Wonders returns to Royal William Yard for the fifth year in a row. Taking place from 11am to 3pm on Saturday 31st August and Sunday 1st September, this unmissable two-day celebration of live entertainment has a mesmerizing programme of performances courtesy of world-famous circus troupe, The invisible Circus.
Known for creating vibrant experiences in unique locations since 1996, The Invisible Circus will be treating visitors to an impressive line-up of the UK’s greatest street performers. From balloon modellers and stilt walkers making their way through the crowds, to daredevil spectacles by tight rope walkers and knife jugglers, visitors of all ages can expect an unforgettable day out. Back by popular demand, Riminski the cycling pianist, will be delighting visitors with a special double-act. Accompanied by cycling bass player, Handkerchief, the dynamic duo will be roaming the Yard with an extraordinary musical performance. If that wasn’t enough, over the weekend the circus group will also be joined by vertical dance troupe, Yskynna who will be presenting ‘Catch me if you can’, a humorous and energetic performance of choreographed wall running.
Transforming the Yard’s historic 16m back wall into a stage, prime viewing of the 20-minute display can be found outside the entrance to Ocean Studios. From 12am to 3pm on both days, inspired members of the audience can take part in an array of circus-themed workshops. From hula hooping and plate spinning, to ball and diabolo juggling, all ages can get a taste of circus life by learning a new skill.
Set to be a weekend experience like no other, visitors to the Yard can also enjoy The Good Food and Craft Market. Taking place from 10am – 3pm on both days, the lawn will play host to a selection of the region’s finest food, drink and craft stalls. Boasting a variety of mouth-watering refreshments, fresh local produce and unique arts and crafts, the market attracts some of the South West’s top suppliers and artisan makers each month.
