Category: Friday FiveThings to do

We're nearing the end of May half-term, and the sun is still shining, which means, it's time to head out and enjoy everything Plymouth has to offer! Here's our top five things to see and do this weekend:

Explore Dartmoor Zoo

Set over 33 acres of beautiful parkland – just 20 minutes from Plymouth – is the wonderful Dartmoor Zoo, from big cats and zebras, to meerkats and Kirk's dik-diks!

As part of the Moor Otters Arts Trail 2021, try and spot their amazing Moor Otter, painted by award-winning local artist Laura Wall, and take part in their very own Zoo trail to learn about all 13 different species!

Please just remember to plan ahead and pre-book your admission tickets!

Throw an axe (or two)

Plymouth's newest family entertainment centre TimberVault has opened, what better way to spend time with the family than chucking axes down a throwing lane?!

If you've had enough of axe throwing, you can relax in the LumberJack Cafe, take a spin in the arcade or even try out some Escape Rooms

Get your shop on!

Head down to Home Park this Sunday for the next Good Food Sunday market, full of exciting food & craft traders, including jewellery, chillis, gin, tacos, and plenty, plenty more.

Explore the story of the Mayflower Pilgrims

If you're in need of a break from the sun, head inside to the newly refurbished Tourist Information Centre and Mayflower Museum.

Set over three floors, the Museum explores the the story of the voyage of the Pilgrims and their journey aboard the Mayflower to the New World. And while you're there, why not pick up a few Plymouth goodies from the shop?

Tune in to world-class sailing

SailGP returns this weekend for their second event in Taranto, Italy. You can watch the action via Sky Sports at 12.30pm or SailGP's YouTube channel

Following Italy, SailGP will be returning to UK shores in Plymouth on 17 and 18 July, and we cannot wait! Have you got your tickets yet? Book them here!

Dartmoor Zoo

In 2014, the Mee family kindly donated Dartmoor Zoological Park to ‘Dartmoor Zoological Society’, a charity specially created for the purpose and registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales under registration number 1158422. The charity is responsible for the care of the animal collection as well as our conservation, breeding and research projects. The charity is completely reliant on ticket income, donations and purchases to keep the vital work going. Therefore, whilst we are still the beloved home of the ‘We Bought a Zoo’ story, a new story led by the charity is developing.
