Sparkly lights and Christmas nights go together hand in hand. The twinkly illuminations are a cute addition to the festive traditions and in Plymouth there are plenty to gaze upon, from the illuminated UK's largest Santa sculpture, Mr Kriss, on The Barbican, to the Zooluminate light show at Dartmoor Zoo, there is plenty of magical festive fun to cast your eyes on this Christmas in Plymouth.
City Centre
Plymouth City Centre has been illuminated for the festive season, and it is certainly not a sight to be missed. Walk your way through the centre and admire the beauty of the lights. The sparkle showpiece will lead you to Plymouth Christmas Market which has taken over the Piazza for the holiday season. Here you can find Christmas lights aplenty, most notably the sparkly giant bauble which is perfect for the festive picture!
Drake Circus
Add sparkle to your shopping experience at the west country's most popular shopping centre Drake Circus. The complex consisting of over 70 shops has been transformed into a festive paradise with stunning lights taking centre stage. The festivities look extra special every Thursday as shops stay open until 9pm for late-night shopping, allowing the perfect opportunity to pick up the perfect Christmas present. Snow flurries are accompanying the lights every day at 4pm at the Old Town Street entrance, further adding to the magic.
The Barbican
A quaint haven of history, The Barbican which is located on the waterfront in Plymouth, is home to an array of stunning Christmas lights decorations this winter season. The lights were turned on in spectacular fashion this year by Dame Darcey Bussell, who pushed the plunger to turn on a combination of over 50,000 pixels, lamps and LEDs along the historic streets. Not only can you adore these lights but you can also visit the UK's largest Santa Sculpture here, Mr Kriss. Made up of 10,000 sparkly lights Saint Nick is not to be missed this Christmas season!
Zooluminate at Dartmoor Zoo
The much-loved Zooluminate lights display is back at Dartmoor Zoo this Christmas! Exciting new illuminations are planned for this year's event which will allow attendees to experience a magical wintery walk across the site, taking in the gorgeous festive decorations, and bringing the zoo to life after dark!
Glow Wild at Paignton Zoo
Celebrate the centenary at Paignton Zoo in style at this year's Glowild event.
Discover the zoo as you've never seen it before in this after-dark immersive light experience featuring a stunning array of giant illuminated animals, light tunnels, a silent disco, and much more.
The journey will begin with a giant storybook inviting you to step into another magical world…from there you will adventure around the zoo and be amazed by a variety of bright, colourful and interactive lighting.
Saltram House
There's an amazing festive atmosphere at Saltram House this Christmas. Take on the Christmas trail at the 18th-century house and explore the magnificent building and gardens which are adorned with twinkling lights, creating a magical and enchanting atmosphere.
Wonder Nights at Mount Edgcumbe
