Looking for things to do in Plymouth this half-term? We’ve got you covered with a fantastic selection of activities and events taking place in and around the city!

      

Explore the National Marine Aquarium

Visit The National Marine Aquarium and discover a whole other underwater world. It’s the largest aquarium in the UK and home to over 4,000 animals. Your visit will take you on a journey from the local waters of Plymouth Sound all the way to the tropical seas of Australia. There are plenty of events happening across half term including Sleeping with the SharksQuiet at the Aquarium and more. There is even a brand new trail to try, Spiny vs Slimy, where you can discover different slimy and spiny animals in each of the zones.

Why not go for a delicious meal after your trip, Rockfish is right next door and has something for all the family!

                                          

Check out the latest exhibits at The Box

The Box is Plymouth’s major award winning museum, art gallery and archive. Not only is it free to enter but there are plenty of child-friendly spaces, interactive exhibitions and an incredible natural history collection.

The major exhibition Remember, Respond, Resist, will be on show throughout half-term. It explores themes of resilience, activism, and community through a range of thought-provoking artworks, objects, and archives. The exhibition highlights how people have responded to social and political challenges, showing stories of protest, solidarity, and the fight for justice.

The Box even has its own Kitchen and Bar, meaning that you can have an easy fun-filled day out with all of the family with some delicous food!

       

Drake Circus The Barcode

Drake Circus’s The Barcode is the perfect place for a fun-filled rainy day! There’s so much to do that kids will never be bored. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy, you can watch a 4D movie at Cineworld, play a round of adventure golf at Paradise Island Adventure Golf or go bowling at Spinners.

When it’s time to eat, there are tasty options for everyone. Whether you’re craving pizza at Las Iguanas, yummy burgers from Five Guys, or spicy chicken at Nando’s. It’s a day of fun, food, and adventure all in one place!

            

Get your game on at Continue Arcade!

Head to Continue Arcade in Plymouth city centre for a treasure trove of gaming fun. Pay on entry, then enjoy endless fun on the arcade games available! Whether you fancy yourself as a Pacman Pro, or Guitar Hero guru, there is plenty of retro-themed excitement to get involved in! 

                 

Catch an amazing show at Market Hall's immersive dome

Nestled in the heart of Plymouth's historic neighbourhood Devonport, the Market Hall boasts a fully immersive dome. With cutting-edge technology, visitors can easily be transported to another world!

The Market Hall also has its very own café, with a tasty breakfast and lunch menu on offer, as well as coffee and cake. 

        

Dartmoor Zoo

Just outside Plymouth, Dartmoor Zoo offers a fantastic day out for all ages. Home to a diverse array of exotic and native animals—including tigers, monkeys, and meerkats—you’re sure to encounter some of your favourites. As a charity dedicated to wildlife conservation, education, and research, Dartmoor Zoo plays an important role in protecting our planet's creatures. This half-term, they will also feature a conservation career program, perfect for anyone interested in pursuing a career with animals.

                

Theatre Royal Plymouth

The Theatre Royal Plymouth is the leading promoter of theatre in the South West, offering a diverse array of performances to suit every taste. Over half-term they will be showing The Colour of Dinosaurs, join five musicians and palaeontologist Dr Jakob Vinther as they take you on a rip-roaring, prehistoric science pop gig for curious humans of all ages! 

                 

Picturesque walks this autumn 

We are blessed that there are so many beautiful walks in and around Plymouth, whether it be the stunning grounds of Mount Edgcumbe House, or the exquisite gardens of Saltram, there are plenty of gorgeous places to explore this half term.
